OT-Anyone go to Disney on a budget?

Recommended Posts

Kimber Lilly - To me it helped to stay on Disney property, Not a disney hotel, but one close. There is a Hilton, Wyndham palce that is nice. I stayed there for a week with my daughter. Great pool and walk right across the street. We drove from IL. I drove straight through each way. My daugter slept while I drove at night and I took my laptop so she could watch movies in the back. I took lots of food and drinkings with us. I even have a cooler back pack we used for the day at Disney with ice packs. This really did save a lot of money( even just on bottles of Water and snacks). If you are going to go to disney for more then two days I would go on line a pre buy your multi day passes you will save a little bit of money doing that. Also if you go to sea World when you go in go right to the left. You can have your photo taken and added to your ticket and you will get a second day for free. You will also be able to avoid parking by taking the disney shuttle.

There are tons of places to eat right around the hotels the should not be more then a 10 cab ride - lots of places for kids.

Hope this helps, also if you travel at all and have any "Hotel Points" you can use for at least one night that helps as well. also check the hotel rates everywhere. like - travelnow.com, expedia.com, and the hotel's website. Also make sure you call as you never know where you will find the best rate.

Also of course try to avoid the "Hot Dates" when the rates are really high.

One other tip if you ave a daughter and plan to eat in Cinderella's Castle for lunch call now and make your reservations. When we got there they could give me one in two weeks. I laughed walked away and waited for another lady and thank god someone did not show up and she got us in. It was great cause Cinderella was there and my daughter got her picture taken and all that fun stuff.

Good luck and have a great time.

How in the world did I miss this thread?

It's a little known fact - but I'm a true Disney Geek. I'm not talking Mickey and th Fairy Princesses and all that (although they are nice, too) I'm talking the Parks - particularly Disneyland in Anaheim.

Even though I'm 41 years old and live in Denver - I have an annual pass (shhhhh - it's a secret - if my friends knew, they would think I was nuts)

I recommend going to a website www.mouseplanet.com

Look for the message boards - these folks truly are fanatics and know ALL the ins and outs and every deal or bargain out there. They will happily and gladly answer all your questions (just like lapbanders)

Have fun. It's been since August for me to visit the Happiest Place on Earth. Time to plan another trip! This time, I'm going to try to combine a DL trip with a fill in Tijuana!! Do I know how to party or what? Lisa (DeLarla) has nothing on me! :P

Thanks for the info and the link--

We have been to Disney world once with our son--want to take him back but not spend all his college money doing so!

Thanks again!

Kimberly

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
