I'm new here, just beginning my journey. I've always struggled with my weight, from eating almost nothing as a teenager, then taking up running (I'm sorry but ugh), then WeightWatchers and every other diet you could imagine. I really started gaining in my thirties, when I had a hysterectomy and my hormones went nuts, then I quit smoking and the pounds just went straight up. Since eating my way to about 235, my weight has fluctuated higher and lower. I started having symptoms of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and arthritis about 16 years ago. It just keeps getting worse. Two weeks ago I went to my pain management doctor because my pain was at an all-time high. My weight was also at an all-time high. My doctor told me I needed bariatric surgery right away. He said I was headed for having to br in a wheelchair and heavily medicated if weight did not come off. I don't want to go there. I promised him I would go for it and he referred me to Southwest Bariatrics group here in Austin. I know a huge change is about to happen and I'm trying to really get prepared for what is ahead.
