I started my journey summer of 2014 it was when I started my new job at an Endocrinology Center. We deal with patients every day who struggle with their weight, my office is the one who refers our patients to the Bariatric doctors. I have always struggled with my weight so when I started this job I decided to see one of the doctors for my own weight issues. In our initial appointment we discussed surgery and I was absolutely adamant that it was not for me! I did not want to feel like it had gotten that out of control that my only option was bariatric surgery. So she prescribed me with some prescription weight loss drugs that helped for a few but once I stopped the weight came back and then some, one morning I woke up and hopped on the scale and it said 230lbs !!!!! I thought I'd die right then there, but I didn't. As soon as I arrived to work that morning I signed up for a seminar and I haven't looked back since!
I am having surgery April 1, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital with Dr. Craig Floch in Norwalk, CT.
I am having this surgery for my Daughter, so I can run and play and not be tired and out of breath anymore. So I can set a better example for her so she doesn't fall into the same patters as I have, to which I hate to say have started already. I am doing this for me to break the chain of diabetes, HTN and obesity that runs so heavily in my family. I am doing this to be more confident and comfortable in the skin I'm in. I am proud of my decision and I don't care what others think I am going to be better than ever, I just can't wait to see.
