Hi everyone.
 
My name is Chrissy and I am in the process of starting my gastric sleeve journey.  Well I have already started.  After much research and as much or more communication with reps from different companies, I have made my decision to move forward.
 
After being denied by my insurance not once but 3 different times all for the same reason...."not obese enough" (as if there is an obese enough), I made the decision to have my surgery in Mexico. 
 
I am a Hashimoto's Thyroditis patient with extreme hypothyroidism for 13 years now.  That autoimmune disease does not help a person at all when it comes to weight control as my metabolism is pretty much gone bye bye.  I am 41 years old and my baby factory has been closed for 13 years so it is time for me to focus on getting my body prepared for my golden years.  Arthritis has crept up on me as well as varicose veins, high blood pressure and borderline cholesterol levels.  Since my thyroid disease requires a lifetime of meds, I sure would like to eliminate my daily ibuprofen and blood pressure med intake.  I'm at the "that is enough pills" point.
 
I am from Tennessee but now I live in California, actually 2 hours and 40 minutes from the Tijuana border which makes it quite convenient.  Right now is the right time for me and I have had enough of people telling me that I can lose weight like everyone else can.  I find it amusing to hear that most of these folks don't even know what my autoimmune disease is or many haven't even heard of it.  LOL
 
I am so grateful I found this site while researching the surgery options.  Since I don't have any family near me, there aren't many people I can share this journey with.  I look forward to communicating with and getting to know other people who are going to, have already done so, and those thinking to take this life changing journey.
