Well, I started this journey on 9/13/13 when I was banded. I chose lap band surgery because I was very overweight (obese) and I was tired of being overweight and I knew that I needed to change my life. My highest weight was 250. Date of surgery I was 242 pounds (after pre-op diet). Today, 1/22/14 I am 196.

I am trying very hard and trying to follow the rules. I was self-pay and this surgery was expensive for my family. I want to be successful.

Before having surgery I was very embarrassed that I had gained so much weight, embarrassed for my husband and my kids. My husband has been very good to me throughout this process and he would have never asked me to have surgery or to lose weight. I didn't do this for him in particular, I just knew that I want to be a good wife and to be a good wife you have to be around. I honestly believe that I was just digging myself a hole that I couldn't get out of. I know for a fact that I would have just been heavier had I waited, which would have taken me much longer to lose. I was in the beginning stages of diabetes and my grandmother died from diabetes. She had complete organ failure because she didn't take care of herself. Almost every single person in my family is obese - I was tired of it, just completely tired! This is my story .... good bad & ugly (lol).
