I started this journey in 2012 intending to get the Lap Band. I went thru 4 of the 6 month’s of the pre-op supervised diet and basically chickened out. I had tons of reasons why I needed to just try one more time to do it on my own. I never gave myself any credit for trying to use WLS as the tool it is. My thinking was just broken.
Fast forward to fall of 2014, I am 10 pounds heavier and still no improvement in my health. Two major weight loss attempts since 2012 each time loosing around 30 or so pounds only to gain them back again. I know in my heart that if I don’t do something to change the path I am on, I will be heavier next year and the one after. My husband had an injury that left him non weight bearing. Realizing how difficult it has been caring for him at my current weight, I know that as the years go on I will be even more limited on this course.
The event has made me realize how important my health is to myself and my family. I deserve to be the best that I can be so I am dedicated to making this happen, for me. I have decided to change to the Gastric Sleeve after discussions with my surgeon. Yes, the same wonderful, patient, glad to see you, surgeon. ~Such a great man~ I am now once again in the 6 month supervised diet phase and should be looking at surgery July or August of 2015.
It is also encouraging for me to see the friends that I made on this site back in 2012 have gone on to meet their goals. So wherever you are in your journey congratulations, it is nice to meet you and be encouraged because if I can do this anyone can! J
