Hey everyone! I had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago. I should feel great, but for some unknown reason, I'm sad. I'm not sure why. I guess I didnt know how much I'd miss food. Nothing sounds fun if I cant eat. Thats so pathetic.

Another thing pissing me off is the way everyone close to me scrutinizes what I put in my mouth. Its like theyre waiting for me to screw up.

I saw my sister for the first time and was expecting her to comment on my 15lb weight loss. When she didnt, I asked her about it and she said the whole thing really weirds her out! By the way this is my sister that has always been thin. I feel alone.

What you are feeling is normal and fairly common. You will feel better soon. I am sorry your sis isn't more supportive. Best wishes and congratulations on your 15 pound wt loss.

You are not alone in feeling like this. The emotional part of your whole journey will hit you at different phases than others, but post op depression is pretty common. I really didn't have much of that going on that I was aware of until I had this last revisional surgery and I've been a mess. I'm four weeks post op. Hang in there and lean on those who understand what you're going through.

you know what honey? People are going to be jealous. Even people who love you and do not mean to be. Even people that are already thin and fit.

Some of my best friends have had such a lame reaction to me doing this. The thing is they might just be scared to lose the person that they love. But, I also think that they have their own issues to work out and DONT LET THEM get you down. You'll see, she will come around and feel like a fool for being "weird" to you.

You're in the stage where you are mourning your old friend "overeating". It's common to go through this. Your success will take over your sadness about not overeating anymore.

Take it one step at a time and remember that you're going through a difficult time and it takes a while for our bodies and our minds to adjust.

Take care.

I love my band and my new flat tummy!

this is verrrry common - i am sorry your sister wasn't supportive but that's what we're for  i remember a few days out of my surgery i was desperate for a soda and a milky way and i just sat on the couch and sobbed. it did pass - i am 8 months in and have lost 80 since the band and 110 from my highest. i don't even miss sodas anymore and trust me, when you get on regular food, you will feel so much better. you are doing great!

Don't let how people are reacting to your life choices get you down! They just are worried that you are going to change or the box they had you in is going to change and some don't know how to deal with that.

They don't know what they are going to have in common with you anymore. Or they are so used to having the relationships run one way and here you go changing it up. My step brother had bypass years ago and I remember his brothers had a really hard time with it. Because they were so used to him being their "follower". When their friends didn't want to hang, the fat brother always was available. Then when they had kids, the fat brother was always home to babysit. It was interesting to see how much of a hard time they had with him changing, they felt left behind. Just like some spouses do in this situation.

As for being sad about food...of course you are going to be sad about it! You had a relationship with food. It was your cruch for something else and now you don't have the cruch. You need to replace how you deal with those feelings that you once stuffed. Go for a walk or go to the gym...do something, don't sit and let your feelings fester. The weightloss is only a fraction of the battles we have.

Hugs to you and CONGRATS on the wieghtloss, you can do this!!!:smile2:

I'm so glad I found this thread today. I'm 4 days post op and I am wondering what was I thinking. I was crying because I couldn't turn on the Wii to weigh. (However, I have lost 7 lbs since surgery so that made me feel a little better.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
