I actually recently did a "liquid" fast, pretty much Water and chicken broth for a day....It really helped though because I wanted to see how big my pouch was and if I had streched it out. Well turns out I ate very little for the next day or two, so it did help shrink things down. I can say that before the band I would have binged the day after a fast but my stomach is different now with the band and I find it helpful. Though I have to say that I also don't really have any medical issues that would put me in a dangerous place if I didn't eat, so this obviously isn't for everyone. But I do find it nice as a "reset" button....also not really a diet or a starvation mode thing if you only do it once every so often...now if it were for a week or two at a time...well DUH! that's just plain unhealthy...

Make me jealous...a tree loaded with lemons? I have trees in my orchard loaded with...ummm...bare branches.

My sister got me to do the Master Cleanser awhile back, but I gotta tell you...drinking epsom salts isn't gonna happen. As fast as they go down, they come right back up. I did a modified version and that works well. Actually, I had a few hunger pains yesterday by evening on the juice, but never did with the modified Master Cleanser.

.

Ok Elfie.... I am sitting here as I type.... drinking my "smooth move" tea..... I went and picked enough lemons off my tree to make a gallon of "mexican lemonade" My plan is to do this for 2 weeks and perhaps longer.... min of 2 weeks. I have an allergy appt for the 8th of Jan. I want to be tested and have basically nothing in my system that provides a false positive. ;o). Not to mention jumpstarting the weightloss again for the first of the year. I have become superb at maintaining. ;o) Hopefully this will also propel me in to more consistant exercise since I feel so good while fasting and accomplish so much.

Want to jump on the Lemon truck with me!?

Happy 2010! Lets be losers! hey doesnt' biggest loser start up again on the 5th?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
