rorysmom 0 Posted October 22, 2005 i've always been comfortable exercising and playing sports for fun. but i get "tight" when i'm working with a trainer who expects things of me. it almost instantaneously drains the fun out of it. i also love to dance, but i have a hard time learning choreography! do you like moving your body? vinesqueen 2 Posted October 22, 2005 learning choreography is hard for me as well. But I like working with a trainer too. I love to move, except for days like today where I'm fighting a Migraine.< /p>
MelissaE1979 0 Posted October 22, 2005 I have fun playing softball and tennis as long as I'm with a group of like minded people playing "just for fun" and will give me a "good try" when I get tagged out. I prefer learning choreography, because I'm a liitle shy on the dance floor when left to my own mean. I get nervous and ALWAYS resort to my disco fingers! chichigirl 1 Posted October 22, 2005 You know what, I am slightly over 300 lbs and consider myself quite the large person, but I love to move. There's nothing I like better than to put on some old disco music to clean the house. It's fun it's energetic and my work goes by in a flash. Of course the animals all think I'm crazy, but who cares, I buy the pet food around here, so they'll just have to deal. I always feel good when I dance around by myself, but you'd never catch me dancing in public anywhere. When I was a chubby teenager and used to watch an old show called Sha Na Na, I'd dance in the livingroom and tried to imitated the skinny girls with long, straight blonde hair, mini skirts and white go go boots prancing around and doing the Monkey. I know I'm old, but I wasn't then and my mother would come out and tell me to stop it. She said I was too big and clumsy and looked ridiculous and that she was embarassed. There was no one else in the house for pete's sake, but she had made her point quite clear, and I never did it again nor would I ever dance in public, even to this day. Dancing is most definately a great and fun way to exercise and if you can get those endorphins going, all the better you are, it's like a kind of high, but it's a healthy high. Glad you asked now? ReneBean 3 Posted October 22, 2005 In college, my friend Mary and I had a saying, which is pretty much not repeatable, here. It went something like this: "F*&^ 'em if they can't take a joke." I have chosen for many years to live by this motto. If they don't want to see a fat girl dancing, they don't have to look... I just don't do "Embarrased". (at least not about stuff like body movement). Besides, most people enjoy seeing an honest expression of joy. I love to dance and I will darned well do it anywhere I want to. In the dark ages, my buddy David and I used to do a little Fred & Ginger number down the middle of 6th Street (at 2am there isn't much traffic). I have spent many happy hours dancing. Alas, in my current state of Maximum Density, dancing is physically challenging. I still do it at home where I can collapse onto the couch when my back starts to hurt. Have I mentioned lately that I WANT MY BAND!!! (ok, deep calming breaths...)
NJChick 3 Posted October 22, 2005 I love dancing too, DH and I would go out to bars and dance unti 4 am. These days, I'm like Irene, I dance at home and collapse on the couch lol. I miss those days. Mentally: At this weight I'd have to be honest and say YES, I am embarassed to do anything in public. Even riding a bike...the sheer thought is just horrible. Physically: I am semi-comfortable (wishy-washy) about moving it. I get tired way to quick and my back and knees hurt. I lose my breath to fast and thats a downer for sure. Cindy, that was really rotten of your Mom to say that to you. I'm very sorry. Your such a kind and good person, you deserve alot better. Maybe you should dance in public just once and say hey Mom...that one was for you
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted October 22, 2005 I've always really really loved to dance and move my thang. It got a lot harder of course when I was so heaavey. But I noticed just the other day that I had my iPod on shuffle and I was dancing all around the house. Danced until I was sweaty! What a difference 50 lbs makes! I used to go out and go dancing and soon enough I'm going to be back out there. shake your moneymaker!!!!!!!!!
