Anyone have "single" incision surgery

Recommended Posts

Hutch444: Thanks for your reply about the single incision surgery. How fast did you heal? Was there alot of pain involved. Is there alot of bleeding during the procedure? I'm concerned about complications of this surgery. The more I research the more questions I have. I should be more courageous......but scared. cat lady:scared2:

I had absolutely no complications. My surgeon has a mandatory rule that all patients must spend the night in the hospital, so I received pain meds while there, but I didn't take anything once I got home. I took a week off work and I was glad because it did feel like I was hit by a truck for a few days and sleeping was very uncomfortable, but after about 3 days, I was all good. I never had a problem.

Now, when I was at the surgeon this last time, there were 2 girls that were having leakage from their belly buttons and so we all had to go back and get u/s and blood work to check for infections, but I'm clear and very happy with the way it was done.

I know you'll be fine. Nothing to worry about. Then all you'll have to do is get used to feeling this port under your skin all the time!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
