I'm sorry I can't help you on this. I'm not banded yet or over 60. I would suggest finding a surgeon and talking to him/her first.

Good Luck !!!

hi pigi i don't actually now any one but when i was in my surgeon's office i asked that qustion as i was almost 53 and i had only heard of younger ones having it done here, and he said the lady that had walked past me going in was 70 and she had got it done last year because health wise she was like a 60-65 year old and she was desperate to get out and about with her grandkids, but at the end of the day you have to be guided by your surgeon, good luck with whatever path you decide on

Hi there

My dad is going for the band and will be 70 in December. I think if you are healthy and have no issues other than obesity, it shouldn't be a problem.

Many people over 70 have many diferent surgeries (heart/hip, etc) and do just fine. This is a fairly simple procedure with few complications

Good Luck ! Let us know how you make out !

Hello. My name is Clara. I will be 59 in October. I got my band on August 27th. So far I have lost 27 pounds. Has it been easy? Not hardly. But you have to make up your mind that this will be your new life!!! Take it a day at a time.

There is a thread for people 60 and older. I have been reading that thread and the others. The people on the 60 and older have different reasons for getting the band. I guess that we have figured out if we do nothing, we will be facing the grim reaper or a nursing home in some years. So, there for our choice is made easy.

Please keep us posted on what you will do. There are lot of people that can help you along the way. Good luck.

Hi, I Am 60 And Had My Sx Last Yr. I Have Lost 120 Lbs And Doing Great. I Feel Younger And Can Get Around Like I Was Younger. I Could Not Get Up Off The Couch Nor Walk Up Stairs, Now I Can Do Both And Walk All Over. This Has Been The Best Decision Of My Life! The Sx Went Well And Really Had No Problems At All. I Too Was Concerned About The Age And Wondered If At My Age If It Were Worth It And If I Could Stand The Sx. Well, I'm Here To Tell Ya, It Is Worth It 100 Times Over! You Have To Have Tests First To Make Sure Your Health Is Ok Before You Have The Sx, That Just Gave Me More Confidence.

Good Luck To Ya I Know All Will Go Well If You Decide To Go Through With It. You Will Be A Very Happy Lady!

I am over 60 and was banded on July 30th and in the hospital on my 67th birthday on July 31st. So far, I have lost about 25 pounds, and have had two fills.

I have had NO problems at all.
