ladykcusa 1 Posted May 23, 2010 Welcome to the club. I experienced a bad week with 4 episodes including vomiting. However, trying new foods was the cause - and food that was too dry. This is a trial and error journey. And for each of us it is different. I've lost 25 lbs. and feel marvelous. However with 35 more, I've decided to recommit to the band rules. I'm journaling food to be sure that Protein, calories and carbs are in line. Great to know that vomiting won't kill us - just see as a learning tool.
Tweety39 0 Posted May 23, 2010 Welcome to the club!! I have been a member for about 3 weeks. I think the stomach swells after you PB so it is really hard to eat anything for a couple of days without getting the same result! Does yours hurt like the DICKENS??? Mine hurts when I am PBing. I think this whole issue has been the cause of me not loosing any weight lately, I can't seem to get enough good calories in when it hurts to eat anything. I hope you get over yours soon! It sucks! What does this mean PB and slime? I'm new to this term sorry!
Northern Mist 2 Posted May 23, 2010 I'm in the PB and Slime club too. 5 days after my 2nd fill I tried tuna (not enough mayo), a small, tiny bite of steak on Mothers Day and a quickly swallowed peice of ham because I was talking......none of those were fun - I took it easy the rest of the day then I was fine. My third fill is this thursday and I know I'm getting close to the "Sweet Spot" - I'm going to ask the nurse/surgeon to be conservative from here on out. ladykcusa 1 Posted May 23, 2010 Tweety - PB is productive burp and slime occurs when the food refuses to go down and body secrets "slime" to help. When a bander vomits, the food is covered in this slime - I find it helps the food to move out. Forgot to congratulate the lady who is pregnant. Best wishes. Northern Mist - welcome to the club. It is a learning experience and part of the journey. My third fill did the job for me - I feel I'm at sweet spot too. I asked for conservative fills on #2 and #3. Honestly reviewing your food with your doctor will help guide him/her. Congrats on your progress.

ladykcusa 1 Posted May 24, 2010 Tweety - I try to stay on liquids for 24 hrs. after an episode. The band is aggravated. Then proceed with caution - very small bites and chew thoroughly. We want this to work - use our tools carefully.
iamhealthy 0 Posted May 26, 2010 hi guys it's great to see how amazingly everyone is doing (bar PB and slime episodes of course)! i've lost 17 kilos/37.4 pounds and having the lapband surgery was the BEST decision i've ever made! I've had 3 fills, up to 7cc in a 13cc band and although eating can be challenging at times i just adore the freedom that this marvellous tool has given me. thank you all for your postings- they inspire, educate and support this journey
outside*looking*in 0 Posted June 8, 2010 Hi all! Hoping someone will see this thread. I believe I am in Bandster Hell! Here are the stats. I was banded on 2/3/10 I have lost 31lbs since. I have 6.5cc in. I am thrilled with the weight lost so far but honestly I have been up and down the scale with the last five lbs for almost 2 months! I get full at about 1 cup or 5oz food. I try to eat well having my Protein first then fruit or vegis the way my doc wants. I have never had a pb/slime/throw up episode. I don't take just a few bites and feel full or even satisfied. I do make myself stop at the 5oz limit. I have increased my exercise. If any of you out there have "restriction" or are at the "sweet spot" did you feel like this or have doubt that you would ever get there? Did you notice right away that you hit the right amount in your band? I have had a 1cc increase at the last 3 fills and each time walked away feeling no different and hoping that the next month will be that magic #. Did you notice that the scale started moving when you hit that mark? Thanks .......just getting band crazy here!
panfisher 0 Posted June 8, 2010 Hi Outside Looking In I have 6.9 cc's in my band and I don't feel like I have hit my sweet spot yet either. It looks like you are doing pretty good though. 31 lbs in 18 weeks is right on pace. The only suggestion I might have is to change your type of exercise. I know I have to change about every six weeks. My body starts getting use to the exercise I am doing and my weight lose slows. Hope that helps keep up the good work. mujer555 0 Posted June 9, 2010 Hi everyone. I was banded on February 19, 2010 in Raleigh, NC. I started at 336lbs and weighed in yesterday at 296lbs. So that's 40 pounds and I had no pre-surgery diet. In addition, i didn't do well with my first fill at the end of March. I was too tight and have had no Fluid in my bad ever since. So, I have been doing it without any added restriction. I have recently been feeling a little bummed cause I feel like this is getting harder and harder to do. In addition, my hair is falling out a lot and I am feeling really self-conscious about it. Anyone have an thoughts on how to add more Protein? recipes maybe or supplements? ladykcusa 1 Posted June 9, 2010 panfisher - you are doing great. Keep up the good work. Mujer - I still drink Protein shakes each morning - 27 grams Protein Sometimes I add a ta. Peanut Butter for more Protein 4 oz. salmon, chicken, tuna salad, chicken salad - one of these for lunch and one for dinner Journal to be sure you are getting 75 grams or more of protein daily. That will help with the hair loss. Are you drinking your Water? Ice tea, crystal light? cytomax is a Protein Drink you might try too - 40 grams Your loss is wonderful, keep it up

Darlyne 0 Posted July 8, 2010 Okay, so it's been 5 months since my surgery and I've lost about 30 pounds (had no pre-op diet). I'm thrilled with my progress but had no idea it would be so SLOW. How are you other February bandsters doing? It has only been about 2 weeks since I've reached restriction and I'm hoping I see a little more action now~ Would love to hear from everyone else
