Terrified something will hold me up...

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have recently decided I wanted to become banded after researching the procedure, risks, and benefits in depth. I'm 24 years old, have been overweight all my life and seem to be in a state of digression. I am 5'2/5'3 and at my top weighed 275 in high school, I lost almost a hundred pounds through exercise and diet right after high school. In the last year I went from 185 to 235 and after seeming to not be able to stop gaining weight no matter what I do, it looks like I've plateaued! I've tried diet and exercise, it's so discouraging to feel like I'm never going to reach my goal weight of 120 lb.. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in high school and it kinda fixed itself when I lost all the weight... but in the past year I have started experiencing problems sleeping and breathing. I have problems with my knees, I am out of breath after doing hardly any physical exercise.. I recently took in my 4 siblings and am very low on cash so I know I can't afford to just pay for the procedure in full, though I also recently got on state insurance and I can only pray that they will at least cover a good portion of it. I'm so scared that I will not get approved or that my insurance won't cover it, I couldn't really find anything about it in my policy. Does anyone have any reassurances or suggestions on where to start? I did some evaluation thing on a Bariatric website and am waiting for a reply, I'm not really sure where to go from here.

Although I can't help much on the insurance front - I'm from Canada and was self-pay, I can tell you that the band is amazing, and it will help you. It is so hard to yo-yo diet - I can't imagine how frustrated you feel. Good luck with everything!

Alright, today I'm attending a seminar, I called my doctor's office and told her that I needed a statement saying that it is medically necessary for the procedure to be sent to the insurance, but she said that she couldn't because my insurance doesn't cover it. Well my insurance told me that if my doctor stated that it was medically necessary that they would cover it. Well so I found Dr. Keith, who accepts my insurance and performs weight loss surgery and has awesome reviews online, and the lady at his office scheduled me for a seminar this afternoon and told me to attend and bring all my insurance information and they would handle the insurance company from here on out.... :) Does this mean I'm in? That they will make it work? I'm 130 lbs overweight, have been experiencing high blood pressure.. my sleep apnea is coming back, (it went away after I lost some weight in high school), diabetes runs rampant in my family; I mean I think it's medically necessary to lose weight... We'll see, I'll update later!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
