I have no restriction and I can eat anything....

Recommended Posts

I was banded on October 29th and I've only lost 13 pounds. I can eat anything and I'm always hungry. I'll admit I've not done a great job of measuring out every meal but I have cut back significantly from what I could eat before. But I'm still very hungry. I had one fill a week ago of 3.5cc's. My doctor won't give me another one until early January. I'm worried I'm messing this up.

Only allow yourself 30 minutes for meals any longer than that is grazing. Dont forget to get your 64oz of Water in very important for weight loss. And start moving walking works stay busy keeps the brain from thinking about food. Don't beat yourself up. Keep your chin up and think about how well you have been doing.

If that was your first fill, I'd talk to the doc about ramping it up a bit. The fact that so many docs give fills at one month post surgery and then every 2 weeks until restriction says it can be done. Personally, if I had a doc more interested in sticking to his 'schedule' instead of taking my personal situation into account, I'd probably find a new doctor, but then perhaps that's just me.

I don't get the mindset of some of these doctors. If we could stick to a diet of 1000 calories or less, we wouldn't have needed WLS.

You've lost 2 pounds per week since your surgery. Congratulate yourself!

First talk to your surgeon and find out why he is filling you this way and make sure you aren't being paranoid and listening to the wrong things. If you are not comfortable with what he says, find someone else.

Absolutely discuss this with your doctor.

You have done great with weight loss so far so don't discount that at all!

I'm getting my first fill on the 23rd so I'll ask my doctor what his time table for me to have fills will be.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
