If you would have asked me a month ago I would have said surgery I would like to have tomorrow. After a few days of internet research I am getting nervous. I think because my consultation is next week. I want the success but if I fail it will be me and my own downfalls not the food. i too am very nervous about seeing the me without the excuses. I am excited to think of clothes that fit and not hang over my body. This is the first time in as long as I can remember that I am putting myself first. I need to do this for me. Hopefully the insurance will cover it.

If the insurance doesn't cover it, get a loan and do it anyway!! It will change your life, and maybe it will have a better chance of transforming you if you actually have to pay for it.... Worked for me........... Best of luck!!!!

my extended family is trying to talk me out of it and have me cancel my date but I don't know...HELP!

for my four boys,

Your family are worried about you and I can understand that but you should make the desicion that is best for you, not what makes them happy. You have taken the first and hardest steps by making the appointment you should follow through with what you think is best for you and your four boys. from my perspective if I give in to my family I wil still be here in another 12 months time probably weighing more than I do now and still desperatly unhappy, but if I follow my heart in 12 months time I will be on the way to the me I was always supposed to be.

Good luck with your decision.

I agree with this 100%. If you spend your life pleasing others, you will not only make yourself unhappy, you will never succeed in making them happy. It is a purely selfish decision, on one hand but we deserve to do at least one positive thing for us.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
