2 Days Post Op I Can't Believe It! It is Finally Real To Me!

Recommended Posts

Wow, I want to pinch myself sometimes. I cant believe I did it. What a journey I have been on and its only just begun. I am recovering nicely but starting to become more uncomfortable today. More than yesterday. Trying to get up and move every few hours and stay super hydrated. Thats what I have been told to do.... This crushing up pills is the worst though. I will have to find out how long I have to crush these. I suppose every doctor and pill is different right? Hey I would love to do a weight loss ticker. Where and how do I do that? Any suggestions?

It's pretty easy to set up a weight loss ticker at Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy.... That's where I got the one I use on my blog

So glad you're doing well after your surgery. I was lucky, my doctor gave me a prescription for liquid Lortab to take so I didn't have to deal with the bitter taste of crushed pills! I still have over half of my bottle almost six months later--Tylenol curbed the pain enough after the first few days that I didn't need the narcotic anymore.

My surgeon's office says pills are acceptable if they're no larger than a baby aspirin. I still use Advil's liquid gellcaps and have no problems (I did check with him before I used Advil, he said it was okay).

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
