aubrie 6 Posted December 18, 2009 Yes. Find a new one OR go to a nutritionist familiar with bariatric patients. My doc says ONLY three meals per day, no Snacks, protien first, veggies second, fruit third. IF I have room or was frugal, then I can have brown rice or sweet potato etc. Pie and cake, Cookies is okay ON A SPECIAL OCCASION like everyone else, but a taste is all that is needed. I'm not allowed Protein Drinks except on the day of my fill for 24 hours. Other than that, I'm to eat the real deal. He is REALLY into a BALANCED diet. He says he wants me to learn that above all else. The band will take care of my portions, but also need to learn what a normal healthy poriton is. I eat a LOT of veggies. I mostly eat that and Protein foods. He's happy with that.
adagray 1 Posted December 21, 2009 Your diet is making me crave peanut butter!!! LOL I agree w/everyone else about finding a new doctor. Your doctor is not competent or supportive at all. I would think any change would be better than your doctor. If I couldn't find a better bariatric doctor, I would follow nutritional advice on here or from a book (like WLS for Dummies) and go to Fill Centers USA if I had to before I'd use a doctor that was just making me feel bad and guilty about everything and not helping me. Fort Bend Band 0 Posted December 21, 2009 If all you ate was fruit and veggies you will most likel lose some of your hair for lack of Protein. My md always stressed protein first. Eventually when your band is tight enough you will not be able to eat three peices of chicken. I agree that your md doesn't sound very well versed in nutrition and you should find someone else if you live in a large city. Eventually the band takes care of Portion Control for you but you do need to watch your choices...but all of us have our bad days. If we had complete control why would we need the band?
