What happens when we overeat?

Recommended Posts

I've been doing fantastic since being banded.

But something came over me this morning, and I got a Omellett and Hasbrowns.

I ate it all....

Way more than a cups worth. It took me over an hour and a half to eat it, but I ate the whole thing....

I get my second fill on the 30th, and I'm kinda upset with myself for splurging like I did this morning....

I have been strong, and I cracked this morning....

Have I hurt myself, I feel fine, acutally I feel full.

I guess I'm just mad at myself for letting an old habit take over.... Darnit....

We all fall off the wagon sometimes. Just tell your self that OK that was just a little stumble and I can do this . Hek if you can lose 46 lbs. in that short of time then you don't have any thing to worry about. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!! and congrats:thumbup:

Frist I wuld like say ...WAY TO GO GIRL:thumbup:

Thank you... I have been thrilled with my results thus far.

Also, not your fault, but I guess I should explain, that I am a Happily married MAN, not a GIRL. ;P LOL

Thank you. I did stumble hard this morning, but with three weeks till my next fill, it's this stumbles that help you to regain the balance lost.

I've recommitted myself.

I guess I just hate the fact that I allowed myself to stumble. With each bite I was like "You need to stop", and the old me was like, "FINISH THE PLATE!"

I know better, and the fact that I ignored the new me just threw me for a loop.

But thank you for the high praise, and confidence. It really helps!!!!

an hour and 1/2 is a long time to eat. Try cutting your time down to only maybe 1/2 an hour to eat. that way your not grazing. Just a thought, alot of time we eat and it takes some time to get that full feeling.

46 pounds down? I'll say! Congratulations!

You can't change a lifetime of habits in only 2 months but you apparently are changing them enough to have lost 46 pounds! If you're going to beat yourself up, don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back too!

One step at a time and always moving forward. :scared2:

Wow you are losing weight great.

You probably were able to eat it all because you did so slowly? Probably chewed it up better than you ever had before surgery? I don't know, I am new to this.

I got a great tip on LBT about handling a craving that you just can't make yourself turn down. Destroy it. Run Water on it, smash it, throw it away, etc. My friend gave us a really mouthwatering cake. It was chocolate. That's my big trigger item. My husband left on a business trip, the kids were in school and coupled with after school activities, weren't going to be around to share in the bounty. Also, they don't fall under chocolate's spell. Knowing I was going to pick it at all day if I didn't do something drastic, I took the leftover cake and threw it in our outside garbage toter. Sane me could have frozen it, and had it again over the weekend when everyone would be back, but I knew they'd never miss it, and I wouldn't stop thinking about it.

However, most of us have had our moments of weakness, and you're still very early in the process. I would move on, and not fret about it, and honestly, of all the things you could have "splurged" on, an omelet and hash browns are not that bad of choices, especially the omelet. I hate to make too bold of statements of fact, but I'm going to have to here. There's no way you harmed your band. You ate slowly, it doesn't sound like you have strong restriction yet since you're going in for another fill, and omelets & hash browns aren't exactly the most solid of foods.

You're doing great, so don't let this misstep get you down!! Congratulations on the 46 pounds lost to date!!

One of my customers is on the way in with a basket of holiday Cookies for me. Ugh! Sweet of him but I just don't have the willpower to bring them home to my family and have them sit in my kitchen calling out my name. I will give the cookies away before I even leave work today so they aren't around to tempt me.

You have a long journey ahead of you and you need to realize that if you had will power you wouldn't be 400 pounds. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh because I really don't mean to be, I'm just brutally honest and have no filter and little will power.

Try not to set yourself up to fail this early on. Don't subject yourself to bad foods until you feel you are mentally prepared to handle a situation where these foods are available. This is something I am trying to do for myself. If ordering food in a restaurant is too difficult for you to order healthy then don't go out to eat. You need to set up methods that will work for you to deal with food and the excuses you make to allow yourself to eat bad things. One thing I do when ordering out is tell the server to hold the potatoes or Pasta. This will help me not to give in to my weakness once the food is placed in front of me.

This being said, you are only human and you will make mistakes. I just believe in setting limits early on to minimize these mistakes. I'm sure you haven't stretched your pouch. It would take repetitive eating in that manor to damage your pouch or band so relax.

Have a great day!

Hi:

First, congrats on your success so far.

Because you've only had one fill and have lost 46 pounds you're probably not restricted yet. So, cut yourself some slack and know that you wouldn't be able to eat all of that if your band was at its sweet spot.

Congrats again. Remember, their goal for us is to lose 1 - 2 pounds a week. You're way ahead of that.

I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
