Nerves getting me!

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to have lapband on Friday. I am very nervous for some reason. I have had surgery before, but never of my own choice. My seven year old cries every night and says, "please don't have lapband moma." It breaks my heart and makes me even more nervous. Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated.:scared2:

Perfectly natural to be nervous! It's definitely a tough choice when it's an optional surgery. It took me three years to decide to have my surgery for the anxiety it gave me in making an optional surgery choice when I have children. I completely understand how you feel! It's going to be ok! Ultimately, I did it for my children. :scared2: Just focus on the positives of the surgery when talking to your little one about it. Hope all goes well!

My surgery is Monday and I am really nervous, too. I cried during my pre-opt visit and my surgeon told me, "if you weren't nervous, I would be worried about you". The good news is that we are not in this alone :scared2:

Hillmama is right. Do it for your child. You'll be able to be more active with your child which will be enjoyed by you both once you loose weight. You want to improve your health, not only for yourself but for your child. I did it not only for myself but so that I will be here for my two daughters by getting myself healthier. I have the responsibility to be there for them and don't want to risk them seeing me die of a heart attack, stroke or cancer caused by my obesity. Once it's done your child will be okay and I do understand that it is hard to see them scared. But in the long run she will recover and will have a much healthier mother to be there for her.

Hang in there!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
