Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in 01-21-09. I have lost 80lbs to date and in the last three weeks continue to eat like a cow but i can never eat what i use to eat. I tried to get a fill in october but my stomach was way to sensitive so they had to take it out. i will go back in Jan10 and see how i do.. they told me to stay with the lowest fill possible. I notice when i over eat my left side hurts under my rib cage so i am trying to be extra carful at this point..listening to others on here made me think my band may be eroding. I PRAY TO GOD ITS NOT....I STILL HAVE 60LS MORE TO LOSE.

hi i had my surgery on january 13th 09, so far i have lost 64lbs. after surgery.before surgery 40lbs. so that totals 104lbs so far, the begining i was 324lbs. sofar no complications.january is my one year mark.i could not be happier.cuople of months the doctor says i don,t need a fill.sometimes i lose 5lbs a month. so i think that is average.everytime i go to use the bathroom the scale just keep calling me so i have to answer,it seems so additive.

I have lost 48 pounds. Its has been real slow since July. I have only had to fills for a total of 1.5 cc if I remember correctly. I need more fills but they are so expensive. I am getting another in Jan. though. I have another 52 pounds to get to my initial goal of 150.

I was Jan 20, and have lost 50 pounds, with a pretty big stall since the summer. I have had fills, and lost a little but it doesn't feel steady. I just got another .1 cc so am up to 6.6 cc in a 14 cc band. I hope to jump start in time for my bandiversary.

Hi Jan bandsters, I got banded on Jan 28th--can't believe it's almost been a year! So far I am down 100 lbs, with 40 more to go. 20 of those was lost in my pre-op diet, so 80 since surgery. Right now I'm down to pretty much the lowest weight I've been in my adult life, and have stalled over the past few weeks. Maybe it's a psychological thing? That, and all the holiday food temptations don't help, of course... I wasn't prepared for how easy it would be to get away from my routine around the holidays. Am really trying to keep on track with my exercise, but since Thanksgiving it's been hard!

That said, I am so happy with my band and excited to Celebrate one year since I started my new life! Good luck to you all and congratulations!

Val

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
