I was banded August 2007. I've lost weight and kept it off though in the last few months I've gained some of it back. I have only had 2 fills since I had the band put in and am considering going back to get another fill, or at least to see what is going on with my band how much Fluid I have in it etc. I haven't been exercising and I'm sure I've been eating more than I should and it isn't even bad food just too much. I have this huge fear that after all I've done with the band and the weight I have lost that somehow I won't be able to lose anymore. I think I hit a plateau and instead of trying to break through it I just gave up. I've reached the point that I want to try again so I'm going to start exercising and eating less food and possibly going in for a fill. I just know that I need encouragement from people that are going through the same thing I am, and I think I can find that here.

Absolutely, RaeAnn! You came to the right place. Congratulations on making the decision to get healthy again. :)

I definitely think you should go back to your doctor for a fill. If you're eating too much, you're not going to break through your plateau. My PA told me just recently that it makes her sad that so many people will stop coming in because they're embarrassed that they've gained weight. She said gaining weight is very common, and there's no reason to be embarrassed. You have the tool inside of you to help you! You just need to make the decision to go back and get back on track. So, good for you, you've made that decision! B) We're here for you!! Let us know how it goes.

RaeAnn- it's normal to need a fill after quite some time. They told me the band is permeable and it loses slight amounts of Fluid over time. Even a teeny-tiny amount can make a difference. Also, the muscles in our stomach adjust to the band, which may require a slight fill.

I had recently had a plateau of bouncing up and down 3 lbs. I went in for a small fill and it made a difference right away!

Let us know how it goes once you get an adjustment!

You need a fill to help you along. You can do it again, but why not get a fill to help your “Tool” help you. Good luck and keep us posted

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
