Firstly, calm down! This is completely normal.

As the swelling in your body goes down, so does restriction. When you get your first fill, hunger should subside for a while and then return. Yes, depressing, I know, but it takes more than one fill to get long lasting restriction.

For some people it can take months and three to five fills (or more) to reach adequate restriction. The slow pace is so that they don't shock your body into rejecting food, a very bad place to be.

For me, I was Banded in mid May, but it took until late October to be satisfied long term with my smaller meals. Be warned, some doctors think that just because you're losing weight, that means you must not need a fill. MAKE SURE he or she knows you feel you really need it!

Good luck!

This is similar to my experience. And like the prior poster said, the swelling increased the restriction so once it goes down, so will your initial restriction.

Depending on how aggressive your doctor is, you might not get much restriction on your first fill.

As for the hunger pains, mine were terrible and are getting somewhat better. I have to really watch my carbs as they send my blood sugar out of control and my hunger goes into overdrive. I try to stick to Proteins and veggies mostly.

I think the reason most docs want to go slow is to allow your band to get settled in right. It needs to form some scar tissue around it to stabilize it. So try to not over eat. I know it is hard. Me personally, I eat smaller meals more frequently. I dont want to stretch my pouch or cause my band to shift.

This is the same case with me too! I actually have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to assess whether or not I need a fill. I am at a standstill with my weight loss as well (20 post-surgery)--I've been at the same weight for 3 weeks!!!

My restriction is non-existent. I ate a whole chicken quesedilla (the insides) today for lunch. The good news it that will keep me full for the rest of the day. The bad news is I didn't measure, so I'm praying to God I'm not stretching my pouch, but I just cannot handle being starving all the time. It's no way to live :-(

Hang in there! I hope you get some restriction with your fill! Keep us posted!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
