Vinegar for a STUCK solution?

Recommended Posts

I just got my band and I haven't gotten stuck yet (and don't plan on it) but I am wondering what you do if you do get stuck? I was thinking about it this morning and wondered if some apple cider (or any flavor) vinegar would help since it is so acidic and breaks down organic matter. Has anyone tried it or is there something better?

Try it and let us know. I think to break something down it would take a while. In the meantime you would have this vile tasting stuff sitting around that won't go down. I imagine that you would probably have to spit it back out the same as with all the slime that is produced but obviously I could be wrong.

If you do try it let us know if it works or not.

Papaya enzyme tabs (mine are papaya pineapple chewables from Trader Joe's approx $2.99/bottle). I've only had to use them a few times (used them when I had tightness with meat), and they worked like a charm for me.

Hoping you never have to try it, but if the vinegar works, let us know.

I'm imagining using baking powder followed by vinegar like I use to clean my kitchen sink drain. :w00t:

Most likely what will happen if you're really stuck is that you take a swallow of something, throw up whatever you swallowed and what is sticking remains there.

so you'll probably throw up vinegar which wouldnt be very pleasant. Worth a try though.

I've only drunk once to try to bring on a pb and I'll never do it again. I thought I was going to choke, I literally couldnt breath.

I suggest that you ask your doctor! You paid too much for this surgery to be taking a risk.

A little pineapple juice would probably work better. I have never tried it. I drink a small amt of Water and usually whatever is stuck comes back up with the water (bent over the sink or toilet of course).

We're all different, but if I drank vinegar, I'd end up with a serious case of heartburn. Been there...done that.

I'd try the papaya enzyme tablets. I read where someone got them at Wal-Mart.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
