Scooter67 0 Posted December 3, 2009 My surgeon booked me in for my first fill for exactly four weeks after surgery. He booked it on the day I was discharged from the hospital. I think it is another thing that is peculiar to your particular surgeon. Don't worry, you are doing really well and nothing is wrong.
soocalchic 1,087 Posted December 3, 2009 you are doing really well just because your doctor has you booked for a fill doesnt mean you have to get it. You dont want to live with an overly tight band if you dont have to. I you continue to make progress you can always change it for a later date.
deb12983 0 Posted December 3, 2009 My dr has me scheduled for 4 weeks post-op. I think that it is a good idea because you don't have to be in bandsters hell for very long.
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted December 3, 2009 LOTS of docs do the first fill around 4 weeks post-op. It's a good thing, trust me. Yes, you've lost 14 pounds in the first week post-op but once you make the transition to mushy and then to solid food, that is almost assuredly going to change to a lesser rate. Bandster hell is coming! You don't want to spend weeks and weeks in bandster hell, and by getting started on the fills, you are working toward the end of bandster hell before it can really get started! At 4 weeks post-op, I was HUNGRY. I was losing but only on willpower -- no real help from the band. My first fill was 4 ccs (on top of the .6 that was left in my band when they tested it in the operating room). It was too tight and they took 1 cc out. Let me point out that most docs, from what I've read here, don't start that aggressively so that first fill will be just a stepping stone toward your sweet spot. ElfiePoo 109 Posted December 3, 2009 I had my first fill at 4 weeks (yesterday) and they put 3 cc's in. I'm scheduled for another one in a month, but she said I can come in sooner if I'm 'hungry'. Hungry...I don't know what that is. I've never been hungry a day in my life. After I clarified that with her, she said to schedule sooner if I find I'm able to eat more than I should *and* am eating more than I should.

dana67 1 Posted December 23, 2009 I had my first fill on the 17th on December, one month after surgery. I have a 10 cc Band with 5.4 cc of fill in it, still no restriction though. I hope I will have some restriction after the 2nd fill in January, right now I am just limiting my portions on pure will power. I am not losing much yet but am hopeful it will come soon. They released me to start working out again. Depression is my main obstical right now.
