Well I had my first fill today, 3 cc in a 12 cc band and have to say I don't feel any different. Then again, I only get liquids for the next 24 hours so the test will be when I start eating solids again.

After getting the fill, however, it's hard to understand how the medical personnel could possibly miss the fact that they didn't get the saline into the port (as one poster said). My doc pressed on the port until he had the little center nub between two fingers and then had to push down hard enough on the needle to get it through the plastic or whatever this thing is made out of. You'd definitely know if you missed it.

I have an appointment for a month but with instructions to call if I get hungry and am having difficulty controlling my eating at any point up to then and get the fill sooner.

Hey! I had my first fill today too! Numbed it up and gave me a little saline....he did not tell me the exact amount but somewhere between 1-2cc. But I can feel it. I am surprised too...I can tell when I drink Water..no more gulps!

No restriction on food today....but I am eating light anyway. Good luck with the fill!

Good luck with yours as well. They numbed you eh? Mine just said, "a little pinch" and off he went. Fortunately for him it was just a little pinch. :tongue2:

Had my first fill Monday. 5 CC. Been on liquids since Monday morning. Ready for mushy tonight.

Didnt hurt one bit. My Dr does it under fluroscope and I drank some barium. I got to watch. Pretty cool.

I feel great and not hungry even on liquids.

Woohooooo.

I've heard it takes many fills to get to your "sweet spot" or the "green zone". They take it slowly, at least with my doctor. I've heard it can take 5-6 fills before you really feel the correct restriction. That way they can tell what's just right for you.

Thanks for sharing everyone. My first fill will be on Monday. I'm not worried about any kind of pain. I'm just hoping it will end this appetite of mine!

Band? What Band? Did they install a band?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
