I love Taco Bell. I Hate Taco Bell.

Recommended Posts

Well, I have had an epiphany... I know, now, why I remain fat. It's because I love Taco Bell...

We decided that we would have Taco Bell for lunch today. My so called Friend, Paulette, pointed me toward the Taco Bell Nutrition Guide.

http://www.yum.com/nutrition/menu.asp?brandID_Abbr=5_TB

Here I was, happily thinking that I wasn't doing anything too bad. Just a Nacho Supreme and a chicken Quesadilla. How bad could it be, right?

RIIIIIIIGHT. OK. 990 calories!! 2190 milligrams of sodium! 56 grams of Fat!

WAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Ignorance was sheer bliss, people.

And, I can't count the number of times that I have eaten a 3rd item from the menu... Ye Gods!!

I am crushed...

Yikes! Nothing like the cold hard nutrition labels to open your eyes. If McDonalds et al put the nutrition facts on every wrapper, they'd sell a whole lot fewer cheeseburgers.

I was just noticing your signature and wondering about you this morning... how goes your fight with the insurance company? You're always so great at being supportive for everybody else - you deserve your turn! Does it look hopeful?

Why did you have to say Taco Bell? That's my most favoritests disgusting fast food around. I never "got" McDonald's. I'm not a burger person, but I could live off Taco Bell. I could drink their packets of hot sauce and eat tacos all day long. Damn, damn, damn.

Taco Bell is my downfall, too.

I love that place - and I hate it.

Check out the nutrition info for the tostadas - not TOO bad. OK still bad, but not the worst thing ever.

I guess it's ok to hi-jack my own thread for a minute... I won't know much on the insurance front until next week. I have submitted my appeal - but they have 30 days to process it. I am going to harass them (ever so politely) every week until they Get-R-Done... I guess we will see...

I can never eat Taco Bell with a clear conscience again! Hear the rending of clothing and the tearing of hair? WAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Oh no she didn't! Tell me she didn't!! Not the Taco Bell! Someone tell me she is kidding! I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the Nacho Bell Grande.

Damn! And she even furnished the link! Why'd she have to go and do all that? Having a link in a post is like putting a snickers bar on our pillow at night. Like we aren't going to sample (ie devour) it!!

((sigh)) Thought of tacocide are among me girls! Someone stop me! ((sigh))

I can almost guarantee my car will drive to Taco Bell on the way home.

Remember the 70's jingle, "Come to TacoTacoTacoTacoTacoTacoTacoTacoTacoTaco TacoTacoTaco Bell.... (that's 12 really fast Tacos, one regular Taco Bell.)

good gawd what's a bandster to do with out mexican rice & pinto's and cheese? I too could live at taco bell...

For that combo fat grams 17... Protein 16gms... Decent amounts of Calcium vit A, vit C and Iron, but the sodium 1440 mgs!! That's 60% of the rda!

I don't dare look up anything else... I'll surely perish without my weekly TB

I rarely go there and we have the dreaded drive thru. BUT not long ago I did go, I got a diet soda of course and looked at the menu for what I thought would be the best choice.

I got the grilled stuft burrito w/chicken. Woofed it down, got back to work, looked at the nutritional list and almost puked.

ALMOST 700 calories for one stankin burrito.... my heart jumped in my throat b/c here I'm thinking the same... how bad can it be...its grilled for crying out loud. I guess the sauce and cheese killed it.

I haven't been back since.

I'm not a fast food junkie.......I'm a dinner junkie, I like big meals.

Micky D's suck IMHO... Burger King's whoppers are okay but THANK GOD they never call my name. I am also a cake and chips person...yes in that order.

OH boy! I like the Bell too, and have slowly moved away from McD, BKing, and Wendy's. Once in a blue moon I'll have me a burger, and usually enjoy. Sometimes though I think, this isn't as good as I remember it being. That is usually the whopper. Thought it was bliss before banding, now not so much.

We just had the Bell last week for the first time in forever, and now after reading this I deeply regret it! UGH! Won't be doing that again!

I think for now I MUST stick to my home cooked meals. I think I hear some Tempeh, Seitan, Tofu, and a little Quinoa & Flax calling my name.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
