Cranky cranky cranky

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I am about 6 weeks in and getting used to the whole deal, but MAN AM I CRANKY! Usually have a great temperament, nothing phases me and nice as pie - but now am screaming at my child/husband at the drop of a hat and am generally super cranky. Can anyone help with a bit of advice? Has anyone gone through the same thing?

Hi Ya

Not so much cranky.... but really emotional up and down like a yoyo I can't be bothered with people if they do something to annoy me .... at the moment it's all about me for a change... I think it is because we have to deal with our emotions in different ways than before..... if I was upset, bored angry etc it would be nothing to head to the pantry and grab something to eat but now I think about why I want something to eat (sometimes subconsiously).......am I hungry? am I emotional? am I bored? am I pissed off? etc and I feel that doing this is changing how I react to people , situations and life in general .......I have found it a life altering thing to actually analise yourself everytime you want to put something in your mouth so don't be too hard on yourself I am sure that in time we will adjust and things will be normal again.....

by the way "WHAT IS NORMAL?"

Dewberry:tongue:

hey. Totally know what your going through here!

I'm getting cranky soooo easily!

I think its cause im not getting my morning exercise at the moment cause Im just out of surgery (15th december)

Maybe a little bit of an exercise routine in the morning may help... just a suggestion. =)

hope it all goes well

If you've been losing fairly quickly at the start of this journey, you may find that itself is the culprit. Oestragen is stored in fat cells and weight loss releases it into your blood stream, which can make you feel PMSy and cranky. I didn't get much of this effect but then again, I don't get very PMSish either, but many women on this site have reported the phenomena. Apparently, it should ease up after a couple of months.

It might not be the reason but if you're prone to PMS anyway, it might well be a factor in amongst all the other stresses that we have as we start the journey. Maybe some Evening Primrose Oil might help?

Also, be sure you are getting enough sleep. I had insomnia for awhile and completely changed my eating routine which included knocking caffeine out of my life because I had to give up carbonation (I was a diet coke addict) and I don't drink coffee so it in turn made me cranky. It finally went away but it isn't fun for those around us.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
