juanfa 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi all, I had my surgery overseas and still live where I had my surgery. Due to the language barrier I am unsure what the standard procedure for fill costs are. Do you get charged for EVERY visit you make regardless of whether or not the fill is effective? Or do you get billed one time for an effective fill, no matter how many times you have to go to get that fill right? In other words, when I am too loose and can eat just about everything and I go to the Dr. and he gives me a fill but I still get no restriction and I have to go back a second and a third time are you billed for 3 fills or are you billed just once after the fill is appropriate? Thanks so much for any and all advice. JF
Mimilou2004 13 Posted December 2, 2009 I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on fills. If the fills are not included in your original surgery price then you pay for every fill, period. It usually takes several visits until you are at good restriction. If you have a problem that needs an unfill, you start all over again paying for fills. Good luck, Mimi
kiz 1 Posted December 2, 2009 I had one year of fills included in my self-pay contract, but now they're on me. Thankfully, I reached my "sweet spot" just before my year was up, and I don't anticipate many more fills except the occasional top off. However, a surgery or band issue could start me over again..yikes. Anyway, my doctor does allow for a "free" unfill if you return within two weeks of a fill. I don't know if that's typical, but if you do find yourself with a slight overfill, you may want to know what your doctor's fees are for an adjustment correction.
