That's FANTASTIC! I wish they would have been opened in April when I had mine done, I would have gone to them in a heartbeat instead of Winnipeg. I've been completely happy with Maples, just for the fact of how much easier it would be to travel to and from Regina.

That being said, I think it's fabulous that the option is now there for others. Last I had heard, the nurse in Regina that does the fills said she was pretty sure it wasn't going to happen at the Omni Centre because the government wouldn't give them clearance even though they were trained and capable of doing the surgery.

My husband is planning on surgery in the new year, and we were going to go back to Winnipeg for his, but this is a far, far better option for us! I'm going to study their website - any idea what they're looking at as the cost?

That is some AWESOME news!! It's great on a lot of levels, and I'll admit it, I'm pretty pumped that Saskatchewan is getting this service when it's really not that wide spread - go go Saskatchewan!

If you happen to hear any more info , please keep sharing it Joel - it's nice to have someone that knows what's going on out there!

"Fish" - Have you guys been back to Linda again for fills? I was contemplating trying to get up there to see her in the next couple weeks before Christmas, but because we're going to Texas for Christmas, I think I'll wait and pop up to see her in the new year for another fill. (I don't want to get filled right before we leave incase I need adjusting if it's too full or something) I really did enjoy going to her the time I did, though - she's AWESOME!!

I think I'm almost where I need to be for fills (currently at 6) but think I can go a bit tighter yet as I can still put quite a bit of food away. Still working on chewing better and taking smaller bites, but even when I ace that, I can get a lot down.

this is great news!!! I went to Maples for surgery too and I dont know if I am whiney or what but the aftercare I received was horrible. They never answer any of my few questions, like 3 in total, they make me wait an hour to see them for 5 minutes and I have been nothing but polite and kind. My first fill was a joke, no one has heard of such a small tiny fill in the chatrooms. I am frusterated with them and hope to get fills here is Saskatchewan. The only thing nice is Jennifer. If and when I do talk to her its always a pleasure, but I feel I gave them a lot of money and hoped for a bit of afterCARE. Sorry hope I dont make anyone mad for writing it. Good New for Sask!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
