am not sure what to do at this point. I got my band in March of 09 and I've only lost 20 lbs. My starting weight was 269 and now I'm 249. I'm grateful for the 20 lb. loss and I know that my band prevents me from binge eating. Although I'm very disappointed with my loss, I'd rather have the band than nothing.

I lost great at first...lost the 20 lbs the first 2 months. I haven't lost anything since June. I have 8 ccs in my 9cc band so I'm pretty sure that I have enough restriction. I haven't been able to get under 1600 calories though (I need to eat between 1000-1200 to lose). I think I'm always hungry but I've talked with my nutritionist and she thinks that I must be "emotional eating" and I'm just misreading my hunger signs.

My doctor wants me to do 1 hour of cardio every day but this has been almost impossible (I have 2 small children and work part time). I've been getting in 30 minutes every day and its a struggle to get that in.

I think that maybe I should have gotten bypass or the sleeve since I'm an emotional eater (?). Has anyone switched from the band to another surgery? If so, what is the process? Does insurance cover it?

I really want the band to work for me and I feel like such a failure. I'd be happy if I could just get back to 200.

I am a slow loser. I have been banded for 18 months and am down almost 40 pounds. I have been eating around the band most of year. My first 5 months were great. Then I thought I new it all. I only had 5.5 in the band. I just went back and got a fill. I still only have about 6 in the band. I do feel the fill this time. . I am surprised that at 8 you don't feel full for a long time. I do now. I know that it is so easy to grab something that sides easy.(Chocolate for me) That's what I am really watching now. I would just make sure that you have 8 in your band. That seems like a lot in just a few months. My records at the surgeons office weren't right. So double check.

How many fills have you gotten? Do you follow the rules like Protein first, no drinking while eating, etc+?

Have you sought therapy? If it's in your head, that would be your best bet.

You have the Lapband in place and know what needs to be done but can't do it in your current mental state. Talk to a shrink or psychologist. I prefer shrinks, they have script pads :w00t:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
