Fabulous February Bandsters check in

Recommended Posts

I will hit a year on Feb 24th! I wish more people would post so we can all compare results! I have lost exactly 70 pounds, and 30 to go. Wow...Never in my life have I had only 30 pounds to lose! Never! I am lucky as I started a new job not long ago, so they all know me at my new weight, and it is interesting to see how people react to a (nearly) thin person differently than an obese one. I checked the BMI chart, and though I started out as morbidly obese, I have two pounds to only be overweight!!! My defining moment of deciding on this road to lapband world was talking to my doctor about a specific problem and watching him listening, but writing MORBIDLY OBESE on my chart. I guess leaving that diagnosis of his (as well as finding a more sympathetic doctor) has been my goal.

Let me know how everyone else is doing...and how much fun it is to buy new clothes!

Well I am not officially a member of the Fabulous Februaries but I was banded on Feb. 16, 2009. I have lost 90 lbs. Yes I am thrilled and at the same time would like it to be more. Still a learning process - almost every day but it gets better all of the time and I welcome it. :-) Best of luck to everyone!

If you were banded in 2009 you are definitely one of the fabulous February bandsters!

I am 10 days from being banded, started 2 liquid meals today.

How long before surgery do most of you do a full liquid diet?

Hi LisaSusan,

I started my pre op liquid diet two weeks before surgery. The last two days were Clear liquids. And I didn't get mushies until two weeks after. but it differs from surgeon to surgeon.

I was at a friend's house on Saturday, and none of the people there had seen me at my previous weight. I showed them a before picture, and they all said, "Wow!" That said it all.

Debbie

Hi Juls Journey,

I hit my anni Feb 27th. To date I have lost 48 lbs. I have 30 more to go for my goal. The other day I went to old Navy and was so shocked that I could fit a medium in shirts and large in the cargo shorts and cute little linen dress. Linen doesn't give so you know that is a big deal for me. I don't regret at all my decision to have this surgery. This was probably the best decision I've made in a LOOOONNG time.

Hi all, My anniversary was 2/10/09 and on that date I lost 65# I am now at 71#. I have never donated so many clothes to Goodwill It must be a dozen bags by now. My new hobby is clothes shopping!! I lost 34" overall. I never thought I could do that. I really love this band. The weight loss is steady but consistant once the fill restriction is good. I lose about 5 -7# a month. I do not have that desire to search for food and eat. I exercise a lot and feel really good. My labs are perfect. Lots of aches and pains are gone too. Sounds like others are reaping the same benefits!! Yeah!!

Well it has been an interesting journey so far. I did have some issues and gained some weight back, however I am on the right track. I have lost about 74lbs at this point, but I am on my way to the goal of 100. Everyone is doing such a great job......

Well I was experiencing a whole bunch of symptoms from having too tight of a band but I refused to acknowledge them! So needless to say the last two weeks were rather rough. However, I finally went in and hand a 1/4th of a cc taken out and BANG much better today. It is funny what a little bit added or removed can do for you! Other than that all is well and I hope it is great for the rest of you also!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
