My only worry at this point is going all that way and them not being able to do the band. Im just praying i dont get flu or anything over the festive period. How about you are u worried about anything? Having read all the positive stuff about dr chris seems like we are in good hands.

Hi

I am not worried about the flu as I have it right now, I just hope it goes in time!! Yeah it is a bit of a problem going all the way and not being sure it can be done as no consultation before. But I don't know how many get turned down. My worry is about the after care and how long it will be needed, I normally live overseas and so having this done in Belgium and then having to stay in UK for about 6 months is a lot for me. In someways I am really looking forward to it but am also apprehensive..... I am going on my own and so there is that also. How are you getting there, they have stopped the flights from Birmingham - what about Manchester?

Hi Jerseybean

We are flying from manchester on flybe cause it worked out the cheapest. I wouldnt worry too much about aftercare there are loads of places to get fills nowadays. We are gonna go with Wendy for our fills with the wls group because they do an offer for £275 for unlimited fills for 6 months. Hope u recover from the flu. take care.

JerseyBean,

My wife is now booked in for the 15th.....(she cant wait)

We are also from the West Midlands. She is going via Eurostar to Brussels, then there is a quick train ride to Vilvoorde. The Campanile hotel is near the station.

jon

ps sorry, read through the thread now...see you are not going till Feb

I used to work in that area (actually Zaventum, near the airport) so know that part of the world a bit, so might be able to help with questions (about the logistics, not the lapband)

Hi JonS

Unfortunately I had pick a couple of dates but Dr Chris was unable to do, one I did pick was confirmed then had to be changed by him. That's life I guess. So now Feb.....

Thanks for the info re Eurostar, I have been looking at flight from Birmingham or Eurostar but not come to a conclusion just yet.

Are you going with?

JB

Hi...I'm new to this site...I'm getting my surgery with Dr. Chris on 15th January...there's another person going on the 15th too (she's on the main forum).

I'm flying from Edinburgh into Brussels main airport and then staying at the Campanile (still to book).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
