New Joy 0 Posted April 8, 2010 Hey ladies!! I *BOMBED* Easter big time. There was so much candy in the house...I swear it popped in my mouth on its own. Plus we traveled---at one point I was drinking a soda and then went S@&^#!#. I had a fill yesterday....my third....it brought me to 6.25cc and I am starving! starving! starving! I don't have that lum in the throat feeling like I did with the other 2 fills and I feel like I am eaing way too much. ( Protein soft foods only) any thoughts??? I did lose 5 lbs in the last month but that was by will power. I haven't been exercising ( due to job restrictions) but start up on Monday full time again. I need someone to pep talk me...... oh...and how often do you weigh yourself? I am scared not to weigh everyday...that's how I gained 25 lbs last summer but my doc wants me to only weigh in the office.
illuminationlady 7 Posted April 8, 2010 Hi all! Just checking in. I had my fourth or fifth fill on Monday. I was gone across the country on a road trip for eighteen days. I gained five pounds and my surgeon got on my case about it. It made me feel bad and I ended up in tears in his office. He acted better after I started to cry. He is real big on statistics and if I don't lose weight that effects his statistics. By the end of the appointment everything was okay but I still feel he didn't need to do that either. Anyway, just spouting off...everyone take care and to finish the story I'm back on track now. Hugs....

New Joy 0 Posted April 8, 2010 Lady, You are not a statistic and to lump you in with everyone else to make himself feel better is wrong. Are you happy with him otherwise?? My doctor is very frank---and I confess my food woes. I received a stern talking to for drinking a soda..and he flat out told me that every time I put carbonation in my tummy I am choosing to mess with my band/ pouch. That was enough for me. I don't want someone to handhold me the entire way...but I also don't want to be scared to see my doc for self esteem issues. A road trip for 18 days and you ONLY gained 5 lbs sounds like a success to me. Can you imagine the outcome preband?? Get your Water in, get your exercise on, and get back on plan. YOU CAN DO THIS! illuminationlady 7 Posted April 8, 2010 Yes, I'm happy with the surgeon and I did gain weight. But as you put it I think 18 days of eating out and only gaining 5 pounds was a success. I was happy I didn't gain 15 pounds! And he is a very good surgeon. He explained that he only wants me to be successful but somehow I felt like a statistic at that point in time. Thanks for the words of encouragement. You guys are the best!!!
Doer 14 Posted April 8, 2010 It is VERY HARD to manage travel. Hell, it is hard enough to manage at home where we are in control of everything. It's no wonder you had a gain after 18 days away. I really believe that practice is what makes us improve, and that there is a lesson to be learned even in that five pound gain. Don't freak, and don't feel too badly about the doctor - he wants you to do well and sometimes we hear things even worse than they were intended (or not, I mean, I wasn't there and you were!). But five pounds is probably a TON less than some of your old gains. It's sure a lot less than some of my vacation gains. Jump back on the track - you can do it and already HAVE done so well!! I am scared not to weigh everyday...that's how I gained 25 lbs last summer but my doc wants me to only weigh in the office. NJ, It seems like, for me, my fills take a while to kick in. I don't necessarily feel increased restriction right away. Perhaps this is the case for you as well. Another thing is that my surgeon has me eating regular food right after a fill, no liquids or mushies. It makes a difference. I weigh myself daily but record my weight weekly. I know that my weight will fluctuate based on my Water intake, my sodium intake, whether I've had a BM or not, etc. So I don't worry too much about the day-to-day weight. But come Sunday, that's what I keep my eye on. Easter is over. Empty your house of any leftover candies or bunnies. I do much better when I don't have that stuff around. Congrats on the 5 pounds! Even if it was due to pure will power, it's a loss, and a good one too!
Doer 14 Posted April 8, 2010 Thank GOD I don't have little kids around now. I couldn't help but eat a little of everything while the kids were little. I agree with Mel, get that stuff out of the house. You deserve a house free of really tempting obstacles. And a five pound month is nothing to sneeze at!!! New Joy 0 Posted April 9, 2010 My DH got rid of all the candy for me!! Yeah!! My lil guy hasn't asked for any of it either so that's good. I am starting to feel my fill now. I have the lump in the throat. I am going 4 hours between meals. I haven't tried bread or chicken yet but I am not having issues with my turkey chili ( with beans). I didn't get on the scales at all yesterday or this morning. I am going to see if I can go until Sunday and then maybe do a twice a week check in??

Mrs Beasley 0 Posted April 10, 2010 Hi Everyone, I eat 3 meals a day Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can eat my breakfast and lunch with no problems. At dinner lately I have been having problems with chicken and pork (etc)getting stuck and I can barely eat much for dinner. Has anyone had this issue? I have kicked up my excercising alot lately and I don't know if that has something to do with it, I am stumped? Do you lose weight in your stomach? LOL? I don't know what to make of it but it has been happening more frequently lately. I was under the assumption that you have more restriction in the morning. I thank anyone in advance for any input you may have.

This question is posed to everyone...I weigh every morning and I'm wondering if I start to weigh twice a week would be better for me???What do you think??? Hello All, I also weigh everyday - it keeps me going in the right direction. I hate it when I gain a pound back but it seems like a 1-2 pound swing is not abnormal. Good luck to all... Vivinthewoods 0 Posted April 10, 2010 I too weigh myself everyday. If I have gained a pound I know to really watch what I eat that day, If the scale is moving down I feel good and know I'm on the right track. I only record my weight once a week - just on Wednesdays, so I keep a weekly progress chart. @ Mrs. Beasley, Your stomach will shrink as you loose weight. You may be able to eat breakfast and lunch without any problems because those meals might be lighter or softer foods and they go down more easily than the meat at dinner time. chicken and pork can be dry, especially when you have chewed on them for awhile. I find that cutting my meat into small pieces across the grain of the meat helps it to down and also having plenty of gravy or sauces helps too.
