I am feeling the issues of bad breath but have not inquired about it. so please let me know what the doctor says. As for dry mouth, I am always drinking all day long so I don't have that problem. Good Luck.

Sorry to disagree with what you just said but Pasta and rice are not complex carbs or bread. Complex carbs are carbs you get from healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Simple carbs come from foods that have to be processed.

When mentioning pasta, rice and bread I was refering to brown, whole grain or soy - the only kind I eat. Sorry I omitted that info, but they are still complex carbs. The following information can be found at many nutritional website: -

Natural complex carbohydrates food list

Complex carbs (carbohydrate) foods are basically those in wholegrain form such as wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice. Complex carbs are broken down into glucose more slowly than simple carbohydrates and thus provide a gradual steady stream of energy throughout the day. Natural carbs are also a better choice when losing weight on the G.I diet plan.

Here's a list of complex carbohydrates foods.

  • Spinach
  • Whole Barley
  • Grapefruit
  • Turnip Greens
  • Buckwheat
  • Apples
  • Lettuce
  • Buckwheat bread
  • Prunes
  • Water Cress
  • Oat bran bread
  • Dried apricots
  • Zucchini
  • Oatmeal
  • Pears
  • Asparagus
  • Oat bran cereal
  • Plums
  • Artichokes
  • Museli
  • Strawberries
  • Okra
  • Wild rice
  • Oranges
  • Cabbage
  • Brown rice
  • Yams
  • Celery
  • Multi-grain bread
  • Carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Pinto beans
  • Potatoes
  • Dill Pickles
  • Low fat yogurt
  • Soybeans
  • Radishes
  • Skim milk
  • Lentils
  • Broccoli
  • Navy beans
  • Garbanzo beans
  • Brussels
  • Sprouts
  • Cauliflower
  • Kidney beans
  • Eggplant
  • Soy milk
  • Lentils
  • Onions
  • Whole meal bread

Just checking in. It has been forever since I posted. I just got my second fill today. I am starting to feel some restriction finally. The only problem is that my heads tells me I'm hungry, but my pouch says I am not. It is difficult because I am use to eating a certain amount of food and I still want to do that.

I am so close to losing 50 pounds that it is killing me because the scale has been stuck for over a week. It didn't help with super bowl yesterday and I did not eat the way i was suppose to.

Do you guys find that you enjoy exercising now? I find that if I miss a day, I am actually upset over it. I go 5/6 days a week at an hour each time and really enjoy going.

I'd say it depends on how the chili is prepared.

If it is very runny, I'd say it would easily be classified as a slider, since it will slip right through the band.

However, if it's like I make it, very thick and chunky and not much liquid, then I'd say it is not a slider. The last batch I made I used ground turkey breast, onion, can of roasted Mexican style tomatoes, diced, 1 can of Tomato sauce, 1 can kidney Beans, 1 can of pinto beans (rinsed both beans), as well as cumin, chile powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder.

I cook it until it is nice and thick. It is full of Protein and Fiber. And, if you add even more veggies, like bell peppers, etc., it has even more nutrition in it.

If you are thinking of Wendy's chile, I'd say it would run towards a slider, but if you strain most of the liquid off, then you'd have a non-slider.

We had chilli tonight and no sliding for me... Had it a couple hrs ago and still full.. I had it full of veggies, spinach, celery, asparagus, onions, garlic, beans, with turkey as well.. Yummy..

and now I am enjoying a cup of green tea...

Quick and easy lentils ....

1) 2 and 1/2 cups of Water

2) 1/2 cup of lentils

3) salt & pepper

4) Olive oil

5) Hot sauce.

Put the lentils and water in a pot and bring to a full boil,

lower to a simmer and add 1 tsp olive oil, salt pepper and hot sauce to taste.

Continue to cook until lentils are soft and water turns lentil colored (if water completely evaporates, add 1/2 cup water and continue to simmer until water changes color.

Have fun.....I used to put these over pasta....but after the surgery, I found that I liked them alone! I am sure you will too!

Hi Tracy,

I have always hated exercising - just could not stand all that bouncing around, huffing and puffing etc, but my doc really pushed me. Now, (after surgery) I find I'm liking it more and more and it feels sooo good when you stop! I mentioned this to DH last night (an avid jogger) and he said the brain release endorphins, which gives you that pleasure sensation after exercising - sort of like getting a high from it. I too find I can't miss a day.:cursing:

I had my second fill yesterday afternoon. Got 0.6 ccs, bringing me up to 5.6 ccs. No problems with finding the port this time, I just laid down, he felt my side, popped in the numbing medication, then in went the huge butt needle and voila! It was in.

He likes to take out all the Fluid first then put it all back in till full. Let me tell you, when he filled it all the way up, I could feel it close off my tummy! It didn't hurt, but it did feel odd. I did the normal drink Water till I felt it at the back of my throat, then he let out fluid until the water went through quickly.

Last night I ate some of the shredded pork I made with maybe a 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes topped with green chili from hubby's restaurant.

The nurse did tell me to lay off the yogurt in the mornings, she said it's my new ice cream, so no more (since it slides right through and won't sustain the full feeling). So this morning I brought an egg that I'll scramble with some string cheese and salsa.

I go back in two weeks for my next fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
