Help! I effed up and I'm in pain!

Recommended Posts

I ate too much, too fast about 3 and a half hours ago. It was stringy veggies in an eggroll. So at least we know what I did wrong.

But I can't do any PB's, (I tried- believe me) and I tried gas-x, I tried sipping hot tea...

I can feel the tea passing through my stoma and into my stomach and into my gut... I can actually feel the path. It seems to be bypassing the actual clog.

I need help! I don't want to go to the ER, but if someone else has gone through this and can help?

I ate stringy veggies too fast and didn't chew. Is there any digestive enzyme in the stoma, or will I have to barf this up?

Once again, it's been 4 hours and it still HURTS!!!

I've jumped a few times, I've tried making myself vomit for about 5 or 6 minutes and got nothing (sorry for the image) I've tried sips of hot tea. I've tried downward-facing dog yoga pose. I've tried lying flat on my back.

It's vegetable matter, so it won't move and it won't dissolve. I really don't know what to do other than stick a frickin drain snake down my throat.

My hubby is out getting pineapple juice. We'll see.

Have you tried jogging around to break it loose? I have had things get stuck but not that bad. Good luck...

Try jogging, bending at the waist, lifting arms over head, swaying from side to side. In the future, have some papaya enzemes tablets in your purse & at home. They help a lot.

It's been about 4 hours at this point- any movement probably would have done it's job by now.

Does anyone know if we have digestive juices in our little pouch, or does food just sit there until it's small enough to pass?

try drinking some soda - this will cause a draino effect and make you vomit it up!

Good Luck

It's impossible for there to be digestive juices in the pouch. How would it stay in there?

My doc does recommend keeping a can of coke around for this purpose.

A big gulp will probably make you vomit - be warned though, i've drunk on top of major stuck and I thought I was going to suffocate, its an awful feeling but the vomiting does bring relief.

Papaya Enzymes!! You can buy them at an all night Walmart. Chew 2 and it should help break up the clog. Works particularly well on meat, I hope it helps with this. Egg rolls are the DEVIL!!

ouch that is a long time for a stuck episode. My longest has been about 2 hrs and that is normally PBing and sliming the whole time.

The fact that you can get tea down would seem to indicate that you don't need to go to ER. Normally when people are stuck nothing will go down including liquid.

If none of the things already suggested work but you can still drink then I suggest waiting and phoning your Dr as soon as their office opens. See if they think you need a slight unfill or if they suggest waiting.

I had a fill two weeks before a vacation. Should have probably waited. On the night before we left on the plane, I ate some pizza toppings. After getting stuck, my daughter told me to try drinking several fairly large mouthfuls of Water to help wash it out. I didn't think this would work but I barely made it to the bathroom. Needless to say it worked. I got up the offending item but the next day, I had trouble again. I was swollen so I should not have taken my Vitamin which I was taking easily before this episode. I was unable to keep down liquid and I was in the process of flying the full length of the country. It ran through my mind that I may have to go to the emergency room. Since I was not arriving at my destination until 11 at night, that was also a challenge.

I just stopped eating or drinking anything, and waited. Eventually around 3 in the afternoon, my stomach settled and I was able to drink liquids. I had Soup for dinner and waited until the next morning to try anything solid again. I was fine and back to normal by then.

Then I tried pizza toppings again, thinking I had just not chewed them enough and ran into the same problem. I had some papaya enzymes in my purse by then, and it made a huge difference. I have now decided that no matter what everyone else is eating I have to avoid pizza toppings. Huge lesson but maybe parts of it will help someone else. Have a great week!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
