ChrisW123 0 Posted December 1, 2009 Is there anything wrong with having cream of mushroom Soup 4th day after being banded? I can't take the chicken or beef broth anymore...they make me gag!
chocolate_snaps 3 Posted December 1, 2009 Check with your doctor or your manual. Youve come this far try for one more day on Clear Liquids. Or if you must break the rules, thin out a creamier Soup till its almost watery.
destin2fly19 0 Posted December 1, 2009 My nutritionist and surgeon have me on Clear Liquids only for the first week or so. I'm six days out right now. My mom is helping me out with my Soups by heating my broth on the stove and adding carrots, onion, celery, green pepper, and seasoning. She strains everything out before serving it, but it adds a lot of flavor. I was also told to have protien shakes, so I'm having those along with sugar free popsicles, sugar free JELL-O, Water and Crystal Light (all also ok). Try not to do anything that your doctor doesn't recommend. Remember that you're healing and you don't want to do anything that will hurt you. We'll be healed and chewing food in no time. Soexcited 64 Posted December 1, 2009 My doc told me NO anything but CLEAR the first 5 days...then full liquids for 2 weeks THEN mushies like cream of mushroom....you gotta call your doc and ask or play it safe and wait. I have a Soup for you once you are on mushies......I made it for my husband when he was banded and ate it every day...now that I am banded I will be making another batch, but I still have 2 weeks before I get mushies! 2 very large onions cut up super small 4/6 cloves of garlic 2 tablespoons olive oil cook it hot to brown it all well, then cook it low with the lid till it turns to mush. Add 2 cans of Tomato sauce bring it to a boil, add 2 tablespoons of chili powder Stir in a whole package of extra lean turkey meat and a can of no fat re fried Beans. Let simmer for at least an hour. It's a very light (spice wise) chili and so good. The family can have a bowl with cheese & crackers and just get out the handy dandy food processor and blend till super creamy. Add Water if you need to lighten your blended one up. Yummy, super Protein packed, low fat and satisfying for the whole family.
