Restriction Question

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone -

So I was banded on 10/13 and did great, had my first fill on 11/16 - until the fill i had lost 22 lbs. since then another 3 lbs.

Problem is it seems i had more restriction BEFORE the fill?

Anyone else have something like this happen -

maybe it is only because i have been home for 4 days in a min vaca and maybe i am grazing more than normally - im worried.

I also wonder how soon is too soon to call and ask for another fill, my next one isnt due until 12/30 - im discouraged as i was doing so well before the fill i thought it was be a breeze after the fill -- any advice? Thanks Sue

You seem to be doing great! I have had times that it did not seem the fill did anything and a few days later I noticed it. You may be eating more inbetween meals etc. I got my band in May, down 40/lbs. Had a few months with little movement in weight. Was on vacation, eating inbetween meals etc. Started to keep record of food again and that really helped. It is easy to get loose with your food and some things go down really easy. So try to get a bit stricter and look at the long term.

Hey there!

I was banded on 10/14 and kinda feel the same way. I got 4cc's added on 11/19 and have another appointment on 12/10.

Some days I feel fine and eat light and some days I feel like I am starving!!!

I think we felt more "restriction" from the swelling from surgery and swelling.

You are doing great! Keep up the good work!

I am feeling the same way right now I had surgery Oct 14th and had my first fill 11/16/09. I was feeling restriction for a while too and also lost 3lbs. Then with the holiday passing I may have gained that back. This is harder then I thought and it's really frustrating.

well, i just got off the phone with my surgeon office and they were more than happy to move my full up a couple weeks so i am going in the 14h which is 4 weeks since the last one - really hoping this fill gives me that full feeling i was having until a week ago.

I was banded on October 13th and had my first fill on November 16th. I also had some restriction prior to that fill. I have lost 24 pounds, but nothing since the fill. I am hungry all the time and my next fill isn't until December 21st. I have to see the nutritionalist on Wednesday, so I will inquire about changing my appointment for my next fill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
