i cant sleep on my back

Recommended Posts

I'm two weeks post op tomorrow and doing great. one problem, i'm in the most pain when i lay on my back. Anyone else had this issue. i can sleep on my side with no port pain, but as soon as i go to my back it seems like my port sticks out more and the pain is horrible. it hurts more than i ever hurt after surgery. like i said i have no pain when i'm up and moving or sitting but as soon as i lay down it is unbareable. i know your going to say so sleep on your side, but its hard for me to be on my right side contiually all night long. anyone else have this issue.

I'd recommend talking with your doctor about this.

Hi:

I'm guessing you should have very little discomfort after two weeks post op. Please give your doctor a call and explain what's going on.

Hope your pain goes away soon.

Sue

Definitely ask your doctor. I was having pain and snakey feelings inside and he said until the scar tissue forms around the port, I would have some pain and weird feelings.

Hi! I am one 9 days post op. I have the totally opisite thing going on. I am a stomach sleeper and I have had to sleep sitting. Up with lots of pillows on my back on the couch for the last 9 days..sucks real bad but, it helps me from not sleeping on my side or stomach. I have been on this website everyday since my surgery many have said it will get better in time. Just hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
