4 months post op... loss slowing

Recommended Posts

Just wondering i anyone noticed a big decrease in their loss at this point? I lost quite quickly in the begining, but now have slowed to about a pound a week. Im know this isnt' a race, and Im still grateful for loosing, but I was just looking for your experience and any tips you guys might have! Thanks:)

You've done really well and have lost double what I've lost!!

My loss has slowed to a pound a week too - and my surgeon is more than happy with that - in fact they say between 4lb and 7lb a month is a good loss and that any faster than that and you risk excess skin.

I'd rather lose it slow and steady than drop very quickly and have to deal with excess skin!

I am 4 months post op as well and my total weight loss is 19lbs. That gets me discouraged at times but I try to stay positive. I had my second fill 2 1/2 weeks ago and have not lost anything since then. I have no restriction at all... it's weird, I almost wish I wouldn't have got the second fill because I was losing with the first one. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow because it doesn't make sense.

I am 5 months post op today, and my weight loss has slowed dramatically. I don't go back to the doctor until Dec. 11, so I will make sure to talk with him about why he thinks I've slowed down. Some days I'm so tight I can barely eat anything, yet on other days, I'm so hungry I want to eat everything!

Just saying that I'm in the same boat as you! I'm not discouraged, just a bit puzzled!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
