We all do in the beginning and once you start eating food and mushies you may actually gain, but dont worry about it. Just continue to follow your doctors instructions and make good food choices, this is a long term life style change not a miracle cure. It takes lots of ups and downs to get to sweet spot and eventually to goal. Hang in there you are doing great.

I was also banded on Nov. 18th. I lost more on my pre-op diet than I did from my after surgery dieting. I really believe that when it does start coming off, it will come off fast. Hope so anyway. Good luck to you.

I was banded Nov 17, I cheated on Thanksgiving . The food went down without a problem, and because of that I am still trying "illegal food". Help, how can I get back on track. It was lack of willpower that got me to this weight. It is too soon for me to start failing. By the way how do I get the ticker factory attached to my replies.

You are just going to have to know that we have all been there and you are going to have to use WILL POWER. Remember, you stomach is stitched around the band. By eating the foods that are not recommended by your dr, you are causing your stomach to move and work to digest the food. That is causing all of your stitches to be pulled and can result in the band slipping.

OP, your body is still healing, and because you aren't getting a lot of calories right now, it is holding on to every ounce of fat possible. Once you are done healing and eating correctly, you will start losing weight. Just be patient!

I would like to add that everyone has different reponses to what is happening to their bodies. Don't forget that there is swelling, which means Water, which means weight. Once your swelling lessons your weight will lesson magically and beautifully.

Don't forget to drink what you can as well, it will actually help in the flushing of the trauma Water and help to keep your entire system flushed and healthy.

Not to worry as your body is just healing from the trauma of the operation. Stick with it and once you have had your first fill and have some restriction you will be eating smaller meals and feeling full and as you lose more weight you have more energy so will be exercising more and losing more at the same time. The band is only a tool that helps you obtain satiety quicker thus not eating like you used to. It is tempting to think once you have been banded that the weight will fall off but there is a process that must be adhered to and the liquid only part is the toughest in my opinion. I was banded on Dec. 2 and hard as it is I am not going to waste all the money I spent and pain I have gone through to fail. Failure is not an option. One day at a time and before you know it we will have fills and restriction and eating small amounts of most of the food we love.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
