Feeling a little too good 4 days post op

Recommended Posts

I was banded on the 24th of Nov. and I had a few days of gas and bloating whatnot but now I am feeling perfect. No gas, no pain, no restriction. I'm feeling hungry but haven't been brave enough to try "baby" type foods yet. Did anyone else feel like this so soon after surgery? My Dr. said that typically people are on liquids for 7-10 days but I had to follow my body and go from there. How soon did everyone else wait? Thanks guys!

Thanks TJ. I dont' plan on rushing anything, I called my Dr. and they said on Sunday mix in a little baby food mixed with dry milk for extra Protein. So I think I'm going to try it. Walking is the best thing, I had no idea before this surgery how great it could make me feel just walking! My gas pains are all gone as are my stomach pains. Hope you're feeling as good as I am! And congratulations on getting banded as well!

I was also banded on 11/24 and I am still having some pain. I did get out to do a little shopping yesterday, but after all the madness. Although I did get worn out quickly. I am still on liquids, but can eat full liquids (pudding, cream Soups, etc.). I go to the dr for my first follow up next Friday, so I am anxious to see how I am doing. Just ready to really start feeling better. Congrats to you on your band!!!

I was banded the day after you (Wednesday) and I feel much better than I thought I would. I am on Clear Liquids till tomorrow (Sunday) and then I will be alowed to have full liquids, so that will add Protein Drinks, no fat milk, yogurt, pudding and the clear I am on now too. I get full liquids for 2 weeks and have no intention of rushing it. I might feel better on the outside, but on the inside I have stiches that need to heal. I only have this one chance to heal right...I didnt get this far to mess it up because I wanted to eat. I do kinda want to eat right now but I am not hungry at all.

I was banded on the 23rd and am feeling really good. I also have a swollen belly yet, looks like I am pregnant again. I hope this goes away soon. I have had a little yams mashed up with lots of juice, that really hit the spot. Good Luck to you.

I went out a little yesterday too, after the rush, but came home after 1 store because I felt too tired. I'm sticking to my Protein drinks and Soups for now, seems like the best bet, slow and steady. Also Crystal Light makes popsicles now, they are amazing! So good. Also I found that the dry milk mixes best with warm things, so when I make Soup I add some and it helps boost the Protein.

I too have mostly been sticking with Soups and Protein Shakes. I really haven't been that hungry, but I am taking very easy too.

My Dr also said that if I'm feeling hungry to eat eggs. They were good from a few days post op. I may try that soon.

Hey. I made my bar at Weight Loss - Diet Ticker

then use the bbCode (it's the first code at the bottom) Copy everything in the box and just paste it to the page you want.

Yep, I was doing so well that I was only on each stage for 3-4 days before moving on to the next. By the end of week 2, I was back on regular foods. I'm still doing quite well but I still do Protein shakes through the day and only do a regular meal at dinner.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
