I seem to eat around 800-1,00 and have been loosing on that. Eat your Protein and vegies, make GOOD choices, because that is what will help you loose weight. If I have something salty my weight goes up a pound but then the next day it will go back. Good luck to you and I love planners!

Most diets say 1200 calories because below that and your body thinks it's starving and your metabolism drops. You become more 'efficient' at storing what you eat. I remember from past experience that 1100 calories worked for me (for awhile), but when I went on 800 calories, I only dropped 2 pounds the whole month. Very frustrating.

With the band, I'm not counting calories and my doc and nut are encouraging me not to count calories but rather to 'eye' my food and make good choices. In other words, eat no more than 1 cup (total) of food at a meal and the largest portion should be Protein and vegies.

Works for me as I'm too busy to worry about counting calories.

I too am somewhat of a planner. I like to know what I'm facing and have a plan of how to react.

My nut/doctor said that about 1,000 to 12,000 calories is best. Make sure to get in 1/2 cup of Protein, 1/2 cup of veggies, drink 64 oz of Water, and exercise. You should be fine.

I'd also like to encourage you to visit this forum often so that you can learn from others. We all have experienced similar situations and it will help you too.

Good luck and keep us informed.

so that would mean 2 1/2 gallons of Rocky road a day or 6 chocolate cakes!!!! wow, the band is great!!!

(Too funny to see the typo, but we knew what you meant)

My Nut also said 1200 cal a day unless you are doing good exercise, then 1400. I am a guy so maybe it is higher for me....

Thanks for the smile this morning.....

I eat around 1000-1200 a day and i track everything i put in my mouth. I notice that if i get below 900 my weight loss slows but if i keep it up a little around 1100 i tend to lose more.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
