Phlem/Drainage w/ colds/allergies a problem?

Recommended Posts

I have inndoor/outdoor allergies year round - some times they're not so bad and sometimes they are horrible. I'm currently on two different kinds of allergy med's 2X a day and am looking into shots.

Because the stoma is small and only gets smaller with every fill I'm worried the drainage will be an issue.

Has anyone had this issue???

Do you have lots of drainage and no problems?

I know the band acts differently with everyone but I'm just curious.

I don't know the answer to your original question, but I used to deal with constant sinus problems and drainage. I'd wake up in the morning hacking like a 60 year old lifelong smoker and I wasn't 60 and I had never smoked in my life.

Then I read an article about eucalyptus oil killing airborn bacteria and dust mites. Since my youngest son has a serious allergy to dust mites and he had the same problem I did, I invested in some eucalyptus oil (fortunately it's not expensive...unless you're buying it in a health food store).

I put eucalyptus oil in a mister bottle and every week when I change my bed sheets, I lightly mist the mattress pad before remaking the bed. I do this in the morning and by nighttime, the bed has just a clean, refreshing aroma. Plus that aroma spreads through the house. Every so often I'll mist the carpets as well.

Both my son and I no longer wake up coughing and hacking. I can't tell you the last time any of us has had an upper respiratory illness and none of us have had a sinus infection in years and sinus drainage is a thing of the past.

I'll give it a try. I'm not fond of the smell but I would do anything to stop or curb my allergies.

I'm not a smoker but I have asthma and know all about the coughing.

I was told all my life I would grow out of them but the allergies have only gotten worse as I've grown older.

Do you mix the oil with anything or do you spray it full strength?

Thanks.

Use it straight. Just put some in a mister bottle (like you mist plants) and then 'lightly' mist over your mattress pad before you put the sheets on. I'll usually do my pillows as well.

Do this in the morning and by night time, it just smells 'fresh'.

My son and I both have asthma and this has helped considerably.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
