I am curious. What is everyone doing with their fat clothes? In the past I always saved them figuring I "might" need them again someday. Now, I am giving them away. I don't them in the house at all. I saved one pair of pants & a shirt for reference but that's all.

Every time I move down a size I send the past to Good Will. I am sorry I didn't keep my biggest size but at the time it was a great feeling to let them go. Some of my clothes leave here barely worn, but I don't want to keep any "Just in case" clothes around!!! Good luck and I know you are fighting the good fight.

Our support group does a few clothing exchanges. While the RNY folks go through clothes a lot faster than me/us, I volunteered to be the collector, and whatever's left after each group exchange, we split the clothes between the Salvation Army and our local Women's Opportunity Center (that helps women who are going through divorces, fires, entering the workplace for the first time, etc).

It's like Christmas every time we do an exchange.

We have local charities here in the UK that post plastic bags through your front door letter box requesting old clothing. So mine all goes to a good cause

Some have gone to friends, some to goodwill......down 2 sizes.................feels good huh!

I have been fitting into clothes I have had in my closet from sizes 6 to 18 now in 14 or 12.

I get rid of everything, do not want to see those big things in my closet ever again!!!

When my kids told me I looked frumpy, I decided I had to give away the baggy clothes and get some new ones. My husband has a coworker whose wife is not working right now. She cried when I gave her BAGS of clothes, many of which were barely worn. She wanted to pay me something, but I told her to pay it forward some day when she has something that someone else will need.

I love the idea of a clothing exchange at your support group. Sadly, I can never make it to my support group as it's always on a night when I teach!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
