Hi all!

I was so happy to find this site and these forums today!! So many helpful things to read and such kind words from so many to others on the site!

I was banded last Tuesday, November 17th. I am so very ready to be done with the clear liquid diet tomorrow and ready to move forward with feeling like a new and better me!!

I am a 33-year-old female who has had a lifelong struggle with my weight. I got married just over two years ago to an absolutely wonderful man and we have (I think) the best ever and cutest 19-month-old son! My husband is a career marine and that career recently moved us to the middle of nowhere southern GA. The stress of the move and starting over in such a foreign place for me brought on even more weight and more depression stemming from that gain. One very positive thing that came from the move though is that I found out our insurance covered this surgery 100% AND they are very quick with their approvals (I believe the approval came in less than 2 days from the time the surgeon sent it in). It's something I had thought about doing and researched for quite some time and am so happy to have the surgery completed!

Right now though, I think I am at my absolute lowest energy level ever. The whole only clear liquid diet this first week has been challenging, for sure! I find it interesting how different surgeons have so many different strategies for eating post-surgery...I will still be on a liquid diet next week and then pureed foods for 2 weeks following that. Gosh, what I wouldn't do for a little baby food right now to fill me up!

I am so looking forward to feeling good and being happy with the person I see looking back at me in the mirror. I look forward to being able to run and play with my son as much as he wants and being a better and happier wife to my husband.

I will appreciate any and all encouraging words and suggestions I can get on this site and am excited to meet others going through this at the same time!

Kirsten

Hi, Kirsten! I wanted to be the first to welcome you to Lapbandtalk! I am Preband myself and I am here everyday finding new information and encouraging words.

Come back everyday as I am sure you will find something new all the time. The People here are Awesome. The Stories are very Inspirational.

Have you discovered the Chat feature? Its a great place to meet other Banders like yourself. We talk about Lapband and Life. Sometimes the topic gets a "little" off topic, LOL!

I am from Georgia and a Transplant, too! Moving here I initially became very isolated and gained 80lbs. But I am beginning to embrace it. Its a peaceful way of life here.

Good luck on your Journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
