westgw 0 Posted December 11, 2009 GO SEE YOUR DR. This is what I had and thought it was something else Sounds to me this is eroded band. they told me that when you have a belt to tight on your waist it gets red and this what happens under the band cause it there all the time it grows a film out over the band and this gets on the band and than a hole may come in and let gunk in your body. Also it might grow inside of your stomach this is on another thread, After my 2nd fill I got a new sleep apt, and it set at 17lb from old 12lb. I felt blotted and had lots air/gas? in me and started letting it out any way it would come out. I now think it was from the band no sleep apt. had your problems for 2 mo’s than another fill and the Fluid would not go down they said no problem and 2 mo later I had all taken out and spent 4 wks in hosp 3 wks in ICU from the infection
GutBgone 16 Posted December 12, 2009 Just checking on you, How are you doing? Do you feel better physically now that the fill has been removed? Hang in there only a couple of weeks till your refill I feel fine, but I've gained 12 pounds already. Just about everything goes down. :rolleyes2: I'm just very annoyed about them taking out that much. On a different note, cold weather is here and I'm FREEZING. Now that I've lost the layers of fat, I don't have the natural insulation that I used to have.
GutBgone 16 Posted December 12, 2009 I'm sorry you had such trouble, but hopefully I'm not experiencing that. Fortunately, my symptoms don't match some of yours. I did see the doctor, and she took out 2 of my 6 ounces, and I feel fine, but I'm eating everything in sight and gaining weight. I have an appointment for 1/12 to put some back in. We'll see how it goes. I didn't start really losing weight until I went from 5 to 6 ounces. GutBgone 16 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Update: I gained a total of 35 lbs. they slowly put everything back, and I got my weight down to 225. Then, in May, I had a vomiting episode that started two months of troubles and pain and vomiting. I was decompressed from 6.25 to 4.25, then to 2 and then finally to completely empty in the hopes that this would allow the inflammation to go down and get me back to normal. I also switched to non-mechanical food. On Labor day, NOTHING would go down (even liquids), so I went into the emergency room. At that point I was 210. They admitted me to the hospital and started me on intraveinous fluids and ran a cat scan. By the next morning I weighed 217 (same scale). That's 7 lbs of saline&glucose Later that day they performed an upper GI. It turned out that my band had slipped. The right side was still sewn in properly, but the left had detached and my ENTIRE STOMACH had slipped up through the band. The band was now vertical and was cutting off the very lowest part of my stomach where the intestines start. They had me in the operating room two hours later and they tried to reposition the band, but weren't able to, so they removed it. It's now been about three weeks, and my appetite has returned full-force and I'm having a very hard time eating healthy. I'm at 235 already and without medical insurance, I'm likely to keep climbing. When the band was in, I never felt hungry, so I'd eat a small portion and stop. Now... :-( Edited October 1, 2010 by GutBgone

It happens and happens to many more than you'd like to think including myself. So if things don't improve consider revising to a different procedure, good luck, Nancy. GutBgone 16 Posted May 10, 2015 Update: my band had slipped so far that my entire stomach had herniated through it. I had emergency surgery to reposition it, but the scar tissue was too much so they removed it. I regained about 140 lbs in the four years after that and just got a sleeve revision last week.
