Has anyone tried Isopure Nectar?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out a Protein Drink I can tolerate prior to pre-op diet and surgery but am having no luck.

I'm a Water and Ice Tea drinker - I don't like thick, gritty, Protein smelling shakes/drinks!! As in they make me gag.

I have ordered the sampler from the Isopure people and was wondering if there's anything else out there I should look into.

Suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks.

The Isopure was the only one my stomach would (grudgingly) allow me to ingest. There's a low carb and a regular Isopure so be sure to go with the low carb version.

I'm not sure if this will match what you are looking for nutrition-wise, but I bought Protein Shots from costco (12 for $20). Each one has 25 grams of Protein and nothing else (no carbs or fat). I bought them in fruit punch and orange flavor. They are only 3 oz each and have 25 g of protein. I have been drinking one for b-fast followed by half a glass of soy milk (to get a little bit more protein and some carb in). I have not been banded yet, but just experimenting w/protein supplementation. I like these... no milky/gritty taste.

I purchased the same 2 boxes...

I can't stand the taste (cough syrup) but they are far better to drink in 3 gulps opposed to a whole protien shake.

They are easy to carry & I store them in case I don't meet my reqiremdnts of protien daily.

I packed them in my suitcase & took them to Europe.

Very handy!!!

Great question, I saw that ad beside the message board for the Isopure and wondered if it was good. I have tried a couple of the Protein shakes you can buy at convenience stores (muscle milk, etc) and eh, I couldn't handle it. I did have some luck with the Carnation Instant Breakfast, it reminded me more of a slim fast, not thick and gritty. Can't wait to hear your review once you get your isopure to see what you thought.

I will be on the lookout for the Protein Shots, those of you that bought them, have you already had your surgery? I wondered how they worked with trying to get them down quickly because of the strong flavor...and having the band restriction keeping you from doing it too quickly.

countdown on 12/18 Surgery!

Generally, I go to the gym very early in the morning, and I like to have a quick Protein drink prior to working out.

The Isopure ready to drink is clear and has a Gatorade type of consistency. Occasionally, the Protein is in a white glob in the bottom, but once you shake it up, it dissolves. I've tried all the flavors, and I like them all equally.

I recently bought the Isopure powder in the fruit punch flavor. One scoop gives you 25 grams of protein at approx 105 cals and no carbs. You mix it with Water, but it's a thicker consistency than the ready to drink. I think you might find it to be a little on the gritty side. I thought it tasted great though. I even had my husband try one, and he liked it too. I really liked that you only have to use a spoon to mix it.

Isopure is also made from a whey protein isolate which according to them and unjury is the best form of protein. Personally, I don't know one protein from the other.

Regarding the Protein Shots, I think the flavor is more like liquid jello... like if you were making Jello, but instead of refrigerating it, you drank it in the liquid form. I describe it as not bad, but not good either. I don't have a problem drinking it, but its not like I am savoring that taste. LOL I think the big selling point is that it is 25 grams of Protein and in only 3 oz. I don't have the band yet, but I would think it would be easier to get down 3 oz of this than 8 oz of a Protein Shake. The ready to eat Protein Shakes kind of gross me out (haven't mustered up the nerve to even try them), but I would try a protein shake if I mixed it up myself.

Hi, I would like to try Isopure Sampler, too. Where did you find it? I went on their site but couldn't find anything about it. Thanks!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
