vinesqueen 2 Posted October 21, 2005 Oh the extra room in bed is wonderful! We got rid of a 3rd person from our bed, a BIG 3rd person too! as for my program, well I go to school about 800 miles from my home. I'm a recipient of the Scholarship for Service scholarship, which is a full right scholarship to study Information Assurance (think anti-hacker stuff). It's a merit based scholarship designed to increase the number of qualified security professionals, as welll as to improve the overall security of the US Federal Government. After completing my degree, I'll go to work for the Feds for at least 2 years, the same amount of time as my scholarship. Okay, I'm in Idaho, since this is the location of the best program, at least for me. I'm getting a Business degree. My school is the only one that offers the SFS as a business program. Most of the guys in my program are MBA students, we only have 2 undergrads at this point. Why is this the best program? Well, someone has to be able to manage the programs, someone has to understand the big picture and reign in the geeks. And who better to manage geeks than a she-geek? I have just under 2 years to go. What kind of job? Well, a security job of course! As part of the noble cadre protecting our nation's infrastructure. I'm only half joking of course. I don't know what job I'll end up with with the gov't. I'm thinking Dept of the Navy, since there are so many bases in my neck of the world (Seattle). Ultimately, I'd like to be CSO (chief security officer) of a small or medium sized company, or director of security at a large multi national corporation. Hope that wasn't too much information for you
ReneBean 3 Posted October 21, 2005 Never too much info from you, Crystal. So happy for you and your hubby! Give him a big squeeze from all of us and tell him we're all rooting for him, too - even though this is your place. :]
Anwyn 0 Posted October 21, 2005 Not too much information at all - thanks for indulging my nosiness! I'm a geek by association (DH is a software engineer). One of his friends works for a company that does contracting with the Federal government for security issues. (Symantek is the name of the company I think). Sounds like an interesting field! Good luck with your studies - I'm sure you'll reach all of your goals and more!
vinesqueen 2 Posted October 21, 2005 oh no, I'm a full on geekgurl. I'm just a few points from being dysfuntionally geeky, and we all know those types.
BeckyinTexas 3 Posted October 21, 2005 Crystal....What an awesome post! Congratulations to your husband. I know how very proud of him you are and vice-versa, I am sure he is of you! It sure helps me knowing that the band works for us big folks. It gives me so much comfort knowing that bandsters like your husband and myself that have so much to lose can and will be able to lose the weight with the band. I can't wait to see his current photos. That's what keeps me so encouraged....looking at before and after pictures on this site and looking so forward to the day when I can post my own and be so proud that I actually did it. Please tell him how encouraging he is and congratulations!

Parvathi 2 Posted October 23, 2005 o0o that sounds like it'll land you with a fantastically interesting job! Congrats on winning the scholarship - that's huge!! It'd suck being away from home, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. I lived in Seattle for a few years and absolutely adored it.
