Need Support Please

Recommended Posts

Hello to all:Let me start out by telling you about myself. I am a 29 year old female from Ohio, single mother of a 5 year old who works full time.I was banded 4/2007. I first started out weighing 283 and got down to 225, I went from a size 26 down to an 18. I was the happiest I ever been in a long time, felt confident and great about myself. I lost all that weight without having a fill. When I finally got a fill I still haven't lost. Well this year I have gained most of my weight back. I'm back up to 270, gained about 45 pounds back-- 13 pounds from my surgery weight. I basically lost control of my eating habits and exercising. I have exercise equipment and everything and have not used it hardly at all. I know I just need some sort of push or support to get me going again. I don't have time to go to support meetings here due to getting off work and cooking dinner and homework with my son. I am asking that someone please be my support buddy to give me that push to keep me on track with my eating and exercise habits and to get back on the journey of being happy about myself again. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Take care and God Bless!

Hi there. When I read your intro I could so relate. Although I am older than you, I was once a young, single mother working FT and raising a small child and had severe weight issues.

I am curious why you didn't get your fills when you started struggling.....I have always been able to lose the weight in a healthy manner but NEVER able to maintain for more than about 5 months.

If I were you, and it is only my personal opinion is that you need to make an appt with your surgeons office and talk.

You can absolutely do this again and get on the right track!!!!

Keep me informed and I will friend you so we can "support each other"

Best of luck....Stacy

It sounds like you have only had one fill. How is your restriction while eating? You can do this. You have a band, and can use it to help you get back to where you were.

My loss has been super slow. My own fault of course. I exercise in spurts, I still eat junk in small amounts. Basically the only thing I did do right was go in for checkups and fills. I now have great restriction, and that really does make a huge difference in what I see on the scale.

Don't think about it. Quit getting down on yourself about it, there's nothing you can do now but change it around!! Call your doctor get in for a fill asap!! Then go back to band basics!!! You can do it!!!!

I wanted to thank you all for leaving me with some encouraging words. I have an appointment 12/3/09 set to get a fill, this will be like my 4th fill. This time it has been almost 9 months since I had been from embarrassment of my doc seeing that I was gaining weight. I shouldn't have let that hold me back, because now I have gained back entirely too much...but I hope I can change it around, just really depressed and down and trying to get out of this rut. I do appreciate your support and again thank you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
