Patterba 6 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) Ok my Bandster Friends, After losing 20 plus pounds, I am finding it's time to move some things out of my closet. You know say good bye (for good) to some of my largest size clothes. But I want to hold onto one piece to remind me from where I started. I see this all the time on the TV shows where they hold up their old pair of jeans to illustrate how far they have come in their weightloss (and good for them). So, my question is.. Is it the jeans that everyone holds on to to show their former self and size.. Anything else that can driven home the same message. One thing I have really noticed is that my pj bottoms are getting longer, but perhaps that's because my butt and legs are getting slimmer.. Your thoughts and suggestions?? TracyW2 137 Posted November 21, 2009 My surgery isnt for another month, but a couple weeks ago I had to go out and buy a new pair of jeans. These are the largest size I have ever bought. So yes, I will be forever keeping those jeans to remind myself of where I am now and how I will never be this size again. My husband even suggested keeping them so show my progression. Mimilou2004 13 Posted November 21, 2009 I am now wearing an 8-10 and wish I had kept my size 26 jeans...so yes, keep your big jeans. My thinking at the time was to get my closet empty of what didn't fit, but I could have put those jeans away in a drawer!!!! Mimi
Jachut 487 Posted November 21, 2009 Yeah, i've got a pair of jeans. they are astoundingly enormous, and I was a BMI of 35. I cannot believe I fit into them. They look like a pair of joke pants for a clown or something.
Sue Magoo 71 Posted November 22, 2009 I saved a pair of my old 26/28 jeans. I can fit into one leg of them. I get a kick out of looking at them. Sue
SpecialK 22 Posted November 23, 2009 I took before pictures and I kept the green sweatshirt top I had in them and then at 1 year took new pictures. I also kept the shirt I took a photo with my surgeon pre-op. didn't keep pants but I know what size I wore and won't ever forget that.
jfc193 718 Posted November 26, 2009 I did not keep any clothes at all. Only because it was part of my old thinking. I used to lose weight and then gain it back and them more. So now once I get rid of a size and the clothes I am wearing start to get tight then it forces me to stay on target. Plus I have a good friend who people used to refer to us as bookends so I can always borrow one of his pants if i choose to reminisce.

maryrose 2 Posted November 28, 2009 I still have "issues" getting rid of some of my clothes. Problem is, I LOVE all my clothes, big and smaller. Can't help it, slowly but surely though I have gotten rid of probably 3/4's of them. What I refuse to do though is hold up my old jeans and take a sort of before and after photo. That has always bothered me, I don't know why. I know people don't mean anything by it, but it always used to hurt my feelings. Like "look at these FAT old disgusting pants I used to wear". Those FAT old pants were probably not even as big as some of the ones I was wearing at the time. Oh well, so, my answer is Yes, certainly hold onto your old jeans as a reminder. KelinTx 1 Posted November 29, 2009 I saved the pair of pants that i wore to my initial LapBand consultation. I love seeing jaws drop and the look of utter shock on peoples faces when they see me hold up my size 34 womens pants. I now wear a size 8 jeans.

OverBeingFat 0 Posted December 11, 2009 I thought about saving something (still have my ridiculously huge pj bottoms). But aside from those PJs, I donated everything else. I really don't need a reminder of how huge I was. There are plenty of pictures as evidence. Funny story, my niece is about 2 1/2 years old. My brother doesn't have any new pictures of me (I don't want to take any until I hit goal). The other day, my SIL was showing her my picture on the fridge and telling her, "Look, there's Auntie." My niece kept arguing saying, "NO, NO AUNTIE!" My brother & SIL have since requested I take my niece to see Santa and asked to do a new picture with the two of us. They said they don't want to keep arguing with a 2-year-old, LOL! :rolleyes2:

OverBeingFat 0 Posted December 11, 2009 it still hasn't hit me that I've lost that much. Its been a LOT or hard work, exercising 3-4x a week, really whatching what I eat, I'm even still on diet pills a few days a month but its all totally worth it. Good luck, I know you'll get there too!
